Disappointing

UPDATE: Still utter garbage. You can’t even turn the system on off, change, or even look at the schedule. You have to slide the screen up to reach the controls, but it doesn’t stay, so you can tap them. The last update claimed to enhance the UI, but there’s no appreciable change. It’s inexcusable that they just trashed a wonderful, intuitive, extremely useful app for what feels like the work of the CEO’s nephew who took a class. ________Because Carrier discontinued the thermostat their otherwise excellent app supported, when Apple made changes they appear to have completely deprioritized providing a useful update for it. Left us all out in the cold, as it were. They kept saying they working hard, but every other app I have, from the remedial to the complex figured it out. I guess they’re regretting making a thermostat with such useful and staying power that they gave to keep supporting it, but that’s their job. They can’t even manage to change the OLD pictures from the app they broke. I am seriously thinking about getting a new smart thermostat and seriously determined that it never again come from Carrier OR Honeywell, who coincidentally acquired it in the summer of 2024.

We bought the thermostat with new furnace/AC system in part because the accompanying app mirrored the wall stat display for ease of use. Rather than make the app compatible with latest iOS, Carrier trashed the original app and replaced it with this new limited one with different GUI. It functions, but not as well. For example, it is not intuitively clear what is the setpoint vs actual temperature when looking at the display. "Heating" means it's in heating mode, not that the furnace is actively running (like the actual wall display shows). Same for cooling. Maintenance reminders, humidity setpoints and many more features seem to have been abandoned in this dumbed-down version. Disappointing, but better than no iOS control at all.

App Redesign is Laking Functionality

The actual thermostat has many functions. The previous Carrier Cor app for this thermostat allowed the user to access most of the functions of the thermostat. This new app allows for only basic thermostat control. I paid well over $300 for the thermostat in 2017. It was worth it because of its many functions, such as dehumidification temperature setback. As an example of loss of functionality, when away from the physical thermostat for months at a time, this newley designed app does not allow the user to access that function.Since Carrier has now proven that they won’t support an app for more than a few years, my next system and thermostat will not be a Carrier thermostat, and therefore I will not purchase another Carrier AC/Heating system when I need to replace.This new app puts the user back into the caveman era.

Thank you for the feedback. We are sorry to hear about your negative experience with the iPad app. In recent updates we have made some tweaks to the tablet designs. I would recommend updating to the latest version of the application.

The issue before: I kept getting logged off of app (Face Recognition doesn’t work if logged out), “forgot password” link was ultimately resulting in an error webpage.
