BACKUP / RESTORE:
Controller is the only app that can create a backup of your setup and restore it afterwards.
You invested hours to create a smart home with a bunch of devices?
Secure the work done and be prepared, if HomeKit reports synchronization errors or your kid likes swipe to delete.
A backup saves the logical structure of your HomeKit setup.
The following parts can be restored:
● Device and service names
● Room a device is located
● Service groups
● Control views
It's worth it to always have an actual backup!
This new customizable area is shown after app start and allows you to easily create an individual HomeKit control center.
The data shown in control views can be selected explicitly or is provided by powerful smart filters.
In just a few clicks you can create one that shows all power states from light services in the kitchen and living room, grouped by their value.
A great control view to check and control your lights quickly.
A basic set of control views to start with is being created for you.
New unique feature to accomplish actions not possible before with HomeKit!
● "Hey Siri, unlock the door for 30 seconds."
● "Hey Siri, status of my windows and doors."
● "Hey Siri, turn on the lights at 7 am."
A workflow is defined by a series of steps and can be executed manually, with a Siri phrase or a Siri Shortcut.
You can execute scenes, read or write device values, pause execution, create time-based automations and define a output in the order you need it.
The output is displayed or read out by siri.
By using the clipboard action in a Siri Shortcut you can retrieve the output and use it.
An important part of a smart home are automations.
Controller supports the entire HomeKit API and can interpret all common automations, even if they are created by other apps.
Automations are grouped by their name, very helpful to keep track of them.
Experts value the possibility to clone automations and scenes.
E.g. Clone a time-based weekly automation for the whole week and fine tune the time setting afterwards.
Your devices have more capabilities than most HomeKit apps show.
Controller shows vendor specific characteristics and let you use them in scenes and automations.
In which scenes have you used your thermostat?
Controller shows you that in the device detail views.
Reports current value changes of your home.
Expert functionality to check and understand automations better.

Buggy. Doesn’t work
Update: had created a backup of scenes. For sime reason homekit randomly deletes all the accessories from all scenes about every 6 weeks. A “feature” I’m sure. Anywho, when trying to restore the update nothing happened for a while. Then suddenly ii had a bunch of scenes with only serial numbers as descriptions. Thats not helpful at all. I’m sure I’m doing something incorrect but its pretty self explanatory. Help?
Update: got immediate response from developer. That alone deserves four stars. Took four resets, logging in and out of icloud thrice and removing/adding apple watch twice before it worked. Still crashed after every delete of a scene already deleted. Restarted and repeated. Seems to be better now. But time will tell. No way to tell if its the app or apple, frankly.
Buggy on iOS 13. Crashes all the time. Shows deleted scenes but cant delete them. Not worth the new jacked up price of $9.
Developer Response ,
Please report crashes and bugs you experience. There is a service desk to get help.
There are 4 Apple defined scenes that cannot be deleted. If you see outdated HomeKit data, like deleted scenes, there is a deeper problem of Apple in your setup. The app shows the data it gets from HomeKit.
Great Homekit utility
This app is a great utility for Homekit that gives visibility to all the parameters a Homekit accessory has to offer. With the ability to set automations based on parameters beyond what the built in Home app allows, this app is a must for Homekit power users!
Creating backups of your Homekit setup as you add more accessories and automations helps you to troubleshoot problems and roll-back settings to a known good setup.
Logging is a great troubleshooting tool as well, allowing power users with vast Homekit setups to see what parameter changes may have triggered an automation. Hopefully, logging will be expanded to include exporting to .csv for better search and visualization of events.
Just used it to restore pretty much everything!
I’ve used this in the past (around version 4.0.0) when my HomeKit setup got corrupted and I had to reset; and it was useful, but took a while to manually assign unknown devices. Luckily, I made a backup when 4.2.0 came out (current version when writing this is 4.2.1); and when I needed to restore this time (I deleted a second home in the Home app and it deleted my main home instead), all I had to do was use the Home app to add my bridges and other devices (this app says Apple doesn’t allow creating HomeKit devices, I don’t remember if I had to do that last time or not), but this time, all the devices paired up! My home went from everything with default names in Default Room, to all the custom names, rooms, scenes, and scheduled events executed by an Apple TV.
