The Count the Kicks public health campaign educates expectant parents to track their babies’ movements and the strength of their baby’s movements daily in the third trimester of pregnancy, and empowers them to speak up if there is a change in what’s normal for their baby. Research shows a change in fetal movement can be the earliest and sometimes only indication that a baby is in distress in utero and should be checked by a provider. Kick counting is also a great way to bond with your baby!

Count the Kicks app features include:
- Ability to rate the strength of your baby’s movements
- Ability to download and send kick counting data directly from the app
- Ability to take notes on each kick counting session
- Available in 12 languages: Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Haitian-Creole, Hindi, Marshallese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, and Vietnamese
- Ability to track movements for single babies or twins
- Easy-to-read graphs that show your baby’s normal movement history
- Login via social media or accounts such as Google or Microsoft
- Daily interactive and educational messages that appear after a kick session has been saved
- Notifications to remind users to count kicks
- An optional survey for users to inform us of their experience using the app and the outcome of their pregnancy
- "Baby save" stories within the app and the ability for users to submit a baby save story directly from the app
- Available on Apple Watch

Saved my baby’s life

My last pregnancy was going great until the end. After a few days noticing it was taking longer to count my baby’s kicks with this app, I went in to get a fetal heart monitor check and immediately had to do an emergency c-section. Tracking with this app let me know something wasn’t right and I am forever thankful for it. Made by mamas for mamas! I tell all my new mom friends about it because of my first hand experience. Thank you so much for creating this!

Too glitchy to rely on

I wanted to like this app - especially given all the positive ratings- but the first two out of three sessions I had were a complete waste. Day 1, I started counting, finished the session, then it prompted me to create an account or continue on as a guest. I of course created an account, as I intended to use this for the next 3 months. Unfortunately, once I did that, all my session data was lost and was not synced to the new account I created. I was bummed but planned to do Day 2 with my new account. All was well. On to Day 3 (today), things were going well. However, when I went to record a kick, I opened back up my phone (bc if no activity, the screen goes black - which was fine before - you just reopen it and continue your counts…although it would be ideal for the app to stay open and active when you were in an active kick count session), and this time the app had just restarted itself and was back to the main screen asking me to count my kicks! When I went into session history, I saw my incomplete session with 3 missing kicks and the time it took to get to 7. Why did it choose that time to just shut down and restart? So once again, I was left with incomplete data. I’m deleting this app and finding a new one - this info is way too important to keep taking chances on whether my info will save one day to the next!

Frustrating Glitch

I was tracking my baby’s movements for a month and a half, and then a few days ago I go to open my app and it has logged me out. I had used Facebook to create my account, so I attempted to log back in via Facebook. However this message came up:” Login failed. You can’t use Facebook to login to this app or device because there is an issue with the implementation of the Facebook login.”

I tried multiple times, even deleted and reloaded the app, but no success. So I had to create an entire new profile using my Google login, and I’ve lost nearly 1.5 months of data for my baby’s kicks. I’m disappointed by this - even if the issue is with FB and not Count the Kicks. I wish there was a way to just create a profile from scratch and not rely on some other platform like FB or Google to create an account.

We apologize for any inconvenience this caused you. We have since updated and improved our app and think you will find a much better experience. Your feedback is important to us and the idea of creating an account from scratch is great, we will look into this!
