Photos and videos taken can be transferred to cloud storage or a smartphone for centralized management. Data transfer can be performed while shooting or while the camera is turned off or charging. The app works ok but I cannot save directly to an external hard drive

I have limited storage on my computer well, IPAD Pro. And would love to be able to upload directly to an external hard drive. Videos take a lot of memory. There is not way that I have found to do this. Even when I take the memory card and plug it in directly. The video format is not recognized by my IPAD. So I cannot select it to transfer it. The only way I have been able to transfer it is directly from the camera then to my hard drive. This takes a lot of time and effort then I have to delete the files on my computer to save room. It would be wonderful if you came out with an update that allowed me to select a location to save my files to. Otherwise The app is working ok. I can honestly say I have not used all of the features it has to offer since I just started using it this week with my new camera.

I am a mere consumer like the next Individual that has used this application, however, I enjoy the privacy; by that same token this application just before this last update was awesome for update and all the bells and whittles of sending photons TO my phone so that my attempt at editing can process. Now I can Not use the application unless I provide full and entire access to my Phones Full library. Why does the APPLICATION need full access in order for me to utilize the tools I was able to use before, like transferring photos, or updating my little camera so I can continue this most beautiful hobby that Sony introduced me and my family please fix this issue it’s part of the reason Sony is top tier, it not like other company’s have this type of smooth app but at the cost of privacy. So in conclusion if I have to use a computer in order to have peace of mind of privacy, then the price just isn’t right. We pay for the best and expect the best, along with respect for others and their personal choice to share what they wish. Please fix this slight inconvenience, I know Sony would never attempt to force anyone to do something they aren’t comfortable with, right. Thank you Sony I look forward to using your application to update my camera once this error is fixed.
Great but has its issues

Updated my review in 2025. This app is still buggy. I want to give this a five star review because it’s incredible, but there are so many issues. For one sign-on errors I get signed out and then when I sign in, I get errors and have to re-launch the app to successfully sign in. I also have connection issues. The camera never connects on the first attempt. It’s frustrating. I would really like to see more bug fixes so that this can be a five star app. to the team at Sony if you have a TestFlight and you’d like a tester, I used to actually work for PlayStation as QA tester I would love to help and support this app. This app is great. I have been using it recently to get some self portraits and practicing with it so I can use it with ease.The Wi-Fi access point feature is not functioning properly, though I have gone through the steps and I can’t get the camera to connect to my phone even though both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi. I do not like doing the direct Wi-Fi connection because then my phone loses network connectivity while I’m using the camera.

Im tired of sony having so many different camera control apps. Recently bought a zv-e1 and learned that to do smartphone control it only works with this latest app. Why do they feel a need to release a completely new app every year. As well as keeping the old ones in circulation…. Its insanely confusing. Also cannot get the app to recognize the camera. Its shows up to start the connectiong process but it never shows up on the accessory list? Why are there so many steps in the first place?! The camera should just connect from that first selectiong but they make you go through a five step process. Just simplify thing please this app system is a NIGHTMARE. There at least six different ways to connect just in the camera menu! Why are there six? just stick to one and make it reliable! I don't six different methods to connect that are all programmed badly. I would like just one reliable one. And ONE phone app. Just stick with making one app and make it good, update it. Please stop constantly rebranding your camera control apps and make ONE! Anyways i was not able to connect this to a zv-e1 and eventually deleted it
You can now upload multiple untransferred photos and videos from your camera or smartphone to Creators' Cloud storage. You can also specify upload criteria such as shooting format or rating.
