Cubasis LE is the compact version of Steinberg’s streamlined, multitouch sequencer for the iPad, providing the same look and feel of its bigger brother Cubasis. Specially designed for quick and easy operation, Cubasis LE makes recording, editing and mixing a breeze. With MicroSonic, Cubasis LE includes a virtual instrument to be played in real-time using the flexible virtual keyboard. Song ideas can be captured with up to four audio and four MIDI tracks and further edited and polished to perfection with the integrated editors, mixer and selected effects. Thanks to the Cubasis project importer, Cubasis LE projects can be even opened in Cubase — both on Windows and OS X. With touch-intuitive production tools, Cubasis LE opens up a new world of possibilities for your creativity.

Missing Crucial Functions
UPDATE: Thanks for the response. Is exporting to OMF or other file types going to be possible in Ver. 3?
I’ve been using this exclusively for my piano instrumentals. Unfortunately, it is missing some very crucial things. One, is exporting to a generic file to open in a different DAW. Not everyone uses Cubasis or Cubase. This a HUGE oversight and I’m sure it’s done on purpose to keep us from using different DAWs. This makes collaborating virtually impossible.
Another limitation is not being able curve the fade. Only a linear fade is available.
The next issue I’m able to work through but it’s still very annoying. When I’m playing a project and I drag/edit any audio clip from a track that’s playing, the audio distorts until I stop. I’ve never had a DAW do this before.
Those are my main gripes. I do love the simplicity and it’s been pretty stable, though my projects only have the max of approximately 5 tracks with usually no FX. It’s hard to recommend Cubasis unless the exporting to other type of files, is added.

Hi LazarusLives!, Thank you for your Cubasis LE rating - greatly appreciated. Both, the regular Cubasis version and Cubasis LE Full Feature Set in-app purchase allow to export separated tracks, which can be easily loaded in other 3rd party DAWs. On top, please note that Cubasis LE 3 is in preparation, planned to be released at the end of March 2020. Best Lars
There’s a reason for everything
I just bought yet another copy even though I have paid hundreds for existing software on an Apple ID (lalafel@me) that for “some reason” after YEARS of trying to recover Apple just wont help. And I am quite literate digitally. I have a UR 22 mkII, with an existing Steinberg acct from the desktop DAW, and for all of you complaining about needing the hardware, ESPECIALLY using an Apple device....,how can you NOT GET THE SIGNIFICANCE of the manufacturer needing control over BOTH hw&sw !.???! well let’s just say as a long time pro engineer w national acts under my belt I wouldn’t give your demo 10 seconds of listening time. Steinberg may not be easy to learn but nothing comes close in terms of its sheer power and capability, and admittedly the visual interface could be friendlier (but we are talking many years since we used any of their s/w). We didn’t have difficulty accessing our Steinberg acct A few months ago. So we are , yes dropping the 50$ sight unseen on this version and KNOW it’s a bargain since we were trained with real audio gear as an AES member and every type of software stretching back to Dr T on an ATARI ...SOOOOO if you lookin 4 friendly we suggest you stay OUT of the music biz 😂. Bein sincere here.

Hi llooker C, Thank you for rating Cubasis and your extensive review... :) Best wishes, Lars
SAD, SAD, UNBELIEVABLE!!!
What a freakin' rip off. I was pretty excited to use this app but like others on here, why the hell bother when you have to find supported hardware. I chose this because I really want to use Auria Pro which I have but someone told me that Cubasis has an easier learning curve so now after this Cubasis disappointment, I’m just going back, gritting my teeth and learning, Auria. You guys are a complete rip off and I would give you 0 stars if I could. Why the hell would I want an app that only plays in DEMO MODE??? You people cannot be serious! It would have been great to use this app so I could see if I wanted to upgrade to full Cubasis but forget that now. Seriously. You should be ashamed of yourselves. There is no way I’m upgrading to the full version. This is crap. Highway robbery. Tsk, tsk.
I also have one more thing to add. Why do powerhouse DAWS such as, Auria Pro, BeatMaker 3, IMPC Pro, GarageBand, and others I’ve bought allow you to start working with them right away and not have to worry about searching for compatible hardware like you guys? Please explain this to me? It would be nice to use Cubasis LE 2 to give us a chance to work with it. To get a feel of what Cubasis is all about before spending the 50 bucks for the full version. This is not fair. You people intentionally do this so we can fork the money for the full version. What a shame.

Hi NimbusClouds, Thank you for your review and rating. In the App Store description we clearly point out, that the app runs in demo mode unless unlocked with a supported hardware. Please have a look at steinberg.net/cubasisle to check if you own a supported hardware device to unlock Cubasis LE's feature set. Additionally, the regular Cubasis version might offer what you're looking for. Best Lars
