Description

The idea behind this application is that it will help you track and manage your Vitamin D.

This new version integrates with the Apple Health app to make seamless data exchange possible in the following ways:

* on setup, profile information is fetched from the Health App if the user allows it
* the user's weight (a factor in D generation) is fetched on an ongoing basis, making it unnecessary to update it
* the app will write vitamin D doses, including session information into the Health app

You setup basic information one time, like your height and weight and skin type and then any time you are outside, during the prescribed hours (and parts of the year), you can have it compute the amount of D you are getting in a stopwatch interface. It will also track how long you can stay out and warn you when the time is up.

The application will notify you with the next opportunity to generate vitamin D.

Each day, you can see forecasts based on your location, and you can also see the solar position, your generated vitamin D vs. target etc.

In the Pro version, you can see your exposures' history and you will be able to schedule future events for next exposures.

Incredible!

This app is incredible: The utilization of BMI in the calculation of ng/ml is necessary; but so often overlooked in applications. This app has countless features—the addition of supplements is genious—and I could go on about this app being at the pinnacle of sun health, but I would like to address one issue. I, like most, am on a schedule—typically having 15 - 20 minutes around lunch to get sun—but find myself without the constraint of time on the weekends. For that reason, I typically spend a greater amount of time in the sun on Saturday: The app does not allow me to log more than ten minutes per side; although I spend around 30 minutes, and am unable to accurately log sun exposure. The app stipulates a maximum amount of time, but rather should suggest a maximum amount of time. If the app were to allow for additional time above the maximum limit, that would make it exceptional.

A lot of problems here

UPDATE: Don’t bother reaching out to the developer. When I made them aware of the issue on Twitter, with a supporting video/screencast of the issues below, they were rude and dismissive. I’m disappointed they couldn’t be bothered to take these issues seriously, and that they’d pass the blame on to me despite video evidence that their app has two serious bugs that disrupt a user’s ability to use it at even a basic level.

First, it’s defaulting my location to Saudi Arabia, though I’m in North Carolina. When I try to add my location, the map feature fails to find an address. Even when I manually enter my specific city, state, and country, it insists I enter the specific latitude and longitude of my location, which is incredibly bizarre. Never has an app asked me to manually enter my latitude and longitude. When I try to cancel the process of adding a new location, the app won’t allow me to return to its home screen. I had to force quit the app and reopen it to do so. I’m not sure how functional this app will be if I can’t even enter my proper location, and it’s suggesting sun times for a country halfway around the world.

Developer Response ,

You don't have to enter your location, the app gets it automatically. If you turn that on you will see that. That's why no one else is complaining about this.
