I believe the app and a possible discount helps you to drive safer. There are times when I’m driving my 1999 vehicle which does not have Bluetooth capabilities and I start a phone conversation or start a podcast on my phone before I drive and it dings me for distractions even if I don’t touch my phone when I’m driving. I will soon find out what my final discount will be after 3 months of using the service. I do think this will save accidents and lives. Maybe FB can request state funding in a few years after the trends of speeding and bad accidents are reduced by this. 😂 I know, not a snow balls chance of happening but in theory it seems reasonable.

I’ve felt very unsafe driving while using this app. It dings you for braking 14 mpg in 2 seconds, aka it encourages you to run red lights. That “hard braking” is very reasonable to coast to a complete stop off the interstate on a short ramp. I always stay 2 cars length away and 3 on the interstate. Every one of my “hard braking” was because I was going to literally speed limit and didn’t run a red light. In order to not always get flagged at particularly short interstate (65 mpg) exit with stop lights that’s only 8 seconds long, I have to drive dangerously under the speed limit coming up to the exit in order to not be dinged for braking too hard. God forbid there’s more cars waiting at that exit than I have even less time. If my car doesn’t have any inertia when braking, I think that’s pretty safe and reasonable.Please update the algorithm so that it allows for reasonable braking speeds at red lights or off interstate/highway exits. It’s assuming I’m following too close to another vehicle causing me to brake when I’m not, I’m just driving safe. Please also make sure your speed limits are up to date. Side streets sometimes have the wrong speed limits.

I like a lot about this app, but I agree on the hard breaking complaints. I don’t follow too close, I don’t use my phone while driving, I’m not a distracted driver, but I check and see hard breaking. It’s not. For instance we have highway that has a 55mph speed limit and stop lights. If I’m going 55 and it turns yellow, I slow to a stop and every time I get dinged and it says I may be distracted. First, that’s a legit stop and distance and second, just because a braked doesn’t mean I’m distracted. And on top of that, the amount of points it dings you makes no sense. I have 93% after many miles and months and one hard brake takes me down to 82%. It what statistical universe does that work out. One other thing. When I ride with my wife, I navigate. I’m always dinged fit distractions for using my phone. It’s her car. I never synched her car, her driveology to my phone. I don’t drive her car, but it can’t figure it out.

I have been part of the new driveology program and the old. What I like about this app is it tends to open and run more smoothly than the old app. I’m no longer fighting trying to get the app the open or to log in. This is about where my like of the app ends. I much prefer the old app. The new app has so many annoyances and limitations that the old app did not have. The experience with the old app is much desired even with the poor startup experience. The new app isn’t as accurate on route tracking as the old, some routes that are short enough don’t even register as a trip where the old app would register any trip regardless of length, and trip history is only saved for 30 days where I could seemingly look back on trip history as far as I wanted on the old app. Also the trip search function is very much a downgrade. There basically isn’t a search function anymore. The only way to look at previous days is to hit a back or forward arrow until you reach the desired day. The biggest annoyance is phone usage score. only way to prevent the phone usage score from dropping that I found is make sure your phone is connected to both the vehicle Bluetooth and the Bluetooth of the Driveology device. I even go as far as to either keep my phone in my pocket or screen facing down as to hopefully ensure no sensors have a false positive. I shouldn’t have to worry this much about my phone score. If you want to be around your vehicle for extended periods of time like for maintenance or cleaning expect your score to drop unless you go out of your way to ensure the vehicles Bluetooth is turned on or the Driveology device is not connected to your phone. This app could have been so much better. Please fix the startup issues of the old app and bring the old app back. Also please bring back the diagnostics port based tracker it was so much more accurate on trips. It could even be updated to include features for tracking phone usage that aren’t annoying and hard to understand.
