Two stars for function and idea

Bus passes by my house multiple times (for different schools) and every time it crosses the radius threshold I get an alert even though it's not for my kid specifically. This is kind of annoying because it gives me lots of false alarms. This is a compounded problem because it has the wrong pick up time listed and I don't know who to contact to change that - but yesterday we thought we had somehow missed the bus (because we were at the bus stop at the pick up time listed and it didn't come), and today we spent 22 minutes standing in the driving rain. I wish the app was smart enough to only alert when the bus was a certain distance from picking up my child and not just in the radius of my child. A check list of pick ups would be better than a proximity based system.

Borderline useless

UPDATE: The developers added a feature that allows you to customize the shape of the alert zone which makes the app far more useful. I still see “GPS is currently unavailable for this bus” too often for my liking (not sure if this is because of the app, though), and every now and then the app tells me I don’t have any kids riding the bus, which is objectively wrong (logging out and back in fixes the problem, but it’s still annoying). And I’m standing by my comment that EduLog is a bad name for an app that tracks school buses.

Almost every day, I get a message that “GPS for this vehicle is currently unavailable.” So, on paper, this app is a good idea - I’d love to be able to see where the bus is in real time - but in reality it doesn’t work consistently. The circular alert radius feature is stupid, too…I don’t need to know how far away the bus is in miles since it doesn’t take a straight line to the bus stop once it enters the alert radius. It would be way more useful if the app told me how many stops away the bus was. You can change the center of the alert radius by changing the pickup address, which sort of helps, but then the app resets the pickup address every day, so I have to mess around with it to fix it. Oh, also, the name is stupid. It’s a good idea, but very poorly executed.

Developer Response ,

In the latest version of the app, there is more flexibility in creating alert zones. In addition to a circular zone, you can create a custom polygon alert zone with up to 3, 4, 5, or 6 sides. Maybe this will improve your experience with the app. Feel free to contact us at support@edulog.com or visit our help page for more information: https://www.edulog.com/parent-help/

Horrible and worst app

Our school district also decided to use this app. Pretty sure they didn’t do a dry run or read the reviews or they wouldn’t have gone ahead with rolling this out. App is glitchy to thr worst end possible. I cannot fathom why they would make such an app. I have never had my elementary kid come alone from bus stop to home and thanks to this, she had to walk alone to our surprise due to wrong notifications and sometimes NO NOTIFICATION at all. At times when it does give alerts it is about other bus trips before and after our trip. It is so annoying even after changing the radius settings. More than half of the times our bus don’t show it it shows for one second and then says “gps details not available or something”. I have to spend good 30 minutes outside at bus stop to make sure I can safely get to my kid at the bus stop. This is not just an app problem. School is going through driver issues too but still app just cannot keep updated with bus number and trips. This app will just increase your anxiety multi Fold if school also keeps changing bus and trips and app perhaps does not have a way to handle it.
