It’s an embarrassment and no wonder their stock price is so low. All they have to do is just look at some other banks like Barclays US Bank or Zions or ASB etc and just use the easiest format. What features do we want ?1. Balance and transaction information.2. Transfer to other people like Zelle or WeChat3. Automatically linked term savings account.4. ACH between other banks and stock trading accounts 5 no stupid advertising and all that junk they load on China Mobile or The Chinese BoC garbage collection app is even worse. 6. Easy to set up as Alipay or WeChat with passport or ID and a few language choices. Once they get one language it should be trivial. The fact that BoC has probably 500 million customers and no one downloads this app is all you need to know.

I tried to open an account with my us passport in order to use a China Mainland bank to work my WeChat account in order to use WeChat pay. I was told that it takes two weeks to get an approval to open an account. I only have to weeks of vacation in China. By the time I get the approval I will be back to the US. Perhaps this is a common issue with all Chinese Banks not just this Bank.

I wish the app could have into its region “China” as one of them; because foreigners working in China can’t access any app from Bank of China if our account was created in China. That’s awful for foreigners to have no idea how much is left in balance and all. Awful from Bank of China.
