FEATURE OVERVIEW
WORK DAYS - Add work days one by one or set up your week in advance by adding multiple pre, shoot and post days with a single tap. Log call times, wrap times, travel times and meal breaks. Record equipment used on a day-to-day basis. Quickly note camera wrap and drive away times.
JOBS - Create jobs of any length, from two day TVCs to six month Feature Films. Set up jobs as you see fit, customise night loadings, minimum day length and pension contributions. Add work days to jobs for a running tally of hours worked and income earned.
TIMESHEETS - Weekly Timesheets can be generated for single crew members or a whole department. Crew Call’s timesheets are modelled on real-life templates provided by the accounts department to ensure they fit in seamlessly with your production.
REPORTS - Generate PDF/CSV Reports for an entire job or for individual work days. This is a great way to share a complete breakdown of each day’s labour, equipment and notes. Reports can be customised depending on their purpose.
OVERVIEWS - Browse through weeks, months, quarters or years to get a better understanding of your work life. Custom timelines and charts give you a visual overview of hours worked, labour income and equipment earnings.
MULTI USER SUPPORT - This allows one crew member to record call, wrap and travel times for an entire department. Essential for long form jobs where time keeping is usually allocated to one person. Easily share PDF Reports or Timesheets with the production office or other crew members.
INCOME CALCULATION - Crew Call will automatically estimate your earnings based on work hours. Film sets all over the world calculate their overtime differently so we let you create your own overtime calculations. What is your daily base rate? How many hours of double time do you work until triple time kicks in? 1.0x, 1.5x, 2.0x and 3.0x are supported. Set default overtime rates or apply them to individual jobs.
HALF DAYS, FLAT RATE & DAILY BUMP - Set Half Days based on a percentage of your base rate. Use a Flat Rate when you need to override normal income calculations. Step up to a different role with Daily Bump.
EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT - Add unlimited equipment items to your equipment list. Record daily or weekly equipment rates. Create categories to stay organised. Equipment inventories of any size are supported. Edit easily with CSV Import/Export.
EQUIPMENT IMPORT - Download the Crew Call CSV Template to set up your equipment list with spreadsheet software. Perfect for crew who have large equipment inventories. Import the edited CSV to Crew Call and all of your new Equipment and Categories will be added automatically.
EQUIPMENT EXPORT - Export equipment by category or all at once. Easily share your Equipment Lists with other crew members via AirDrop or Email. Ideal if you have someone else running your gear, van or truck.
DATA PRIVACY - Jobs and Work Days that you create with Crew Call are stored on a secure, local database within your iPhone. This ensures that your personal information is kept safe and sound.
CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT - Crew Call is constantly being improved to keep up with the changing demands of our industry. Is there a feature that will make your life easier? Please get in touch and I’ll do my best to make it a reality.

more I like the app, it does exactly what I need, and if in the future I am in a position to use the other features then I will. I should mention that in my experience utilizing the slider bar for the time scale component can be difficult, very small adjustments using your finger have to be made to choose the exact time you need.
Developer Response Thank you very much for the review, I’m glad to hear you are enjoying Crew Call!I understand the difficulties you describe when using the time slider, the good news is they were fixed in Version 1.5. Now you can tap to the left or right of the circle when using the slider for fine adjustments. This allows you to jog the time selection by one increment, either 6 Mins or 15 Mins. For a detailed overview of the new slider please check out the Learn Section in the app. Under ‘Quick Tips’ there is a short video titled ‘Time Slider’ which will tell you everything you need to know. Thanks!

I work mostly in TVCs and this app is perfect to keep track of my hours and the gear I used. Shows me an overtime breakdown with the correct penalties, flags when I might break turnaround, etc. The invoicing features are super useful, I do all of my invoices directly in the app and can easily send them from my phone right after a job. The amount of time it saves me makes the yearly subscription well worth it.

$70 a year! Are you kidding me. When it was at $40, that was barley acceptable. I’ve been using for a few years, it’s ok. When I originally purchased the app, it was the best thing on the market, but it’s still not great by any means. You got to work around some of it’s limitations to get the correct information in. The updates have been helpful, but the app is far from perfect. $70 is totally greedy. The app must have been developed by film tools.
Developer Response Thanks for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that you feel the recent price increase is unacceptable. The price changes in Q1 ‘24 were updated to reflect Crew Call’s new invoicing functionality as it’s no longer just a Time Tracking App for Film Crew but also an Invoicing App for Film Crew.I agree, Crew Call is definitely not perfect but I work hard to make it customizable to maximize its compatibility for Overtime Calculations all over the world. To my knowledge there is nothing else that offers the flexibility that Crew Call offers. If something isn’t working for you please reach out via the Contact Us Form in the app and I will endeavor to build what is required to make it work for you. I’d love to hear more about the limitations you are working around so that I can make it even more useful going forward. Also, definitely not developed by Film Tools. Crew Call has been built from the ground up by me, Bradley Andrew, an Indie iOS Developer and VTR Operator from Melbourne, Australia. Made by Film Crew, for Film Crew.

Day rate / 12hr guaranteed is what is most common in the film industry. You get a number for that day rate, let’s say 400 for the day. The first 8hrs of your day is straight pay at 1x hourly rate, but the remaining 4hrs (too add up to 12) are at a 1.5x hourly rate, calculating up to that 400 total. OT beyond that is then at 2x hourly rate, but this app asks for an 8hr rate (or something, it’s not clear and it’s not changeable, it’s just grayed out) What just about everyone needs help with is figuring out what your straight time hourly rate is to make sense of what makes that 400 even at a 12 hr day is in the first place (any time shy of 12 still = 12 hrs in the industry) this is needed so that you can figure out how much they owe ya beyond the 12 hrs that you had worked. This app either does not do that, or is designed so poorly that it’s not clear how to do that.... can’t we just put a day rate for a 12 in a slot and have it do the math? Is there any app out there that does this anymore? There was a good one years ago called wrap time, but it’s gone now and this app has earned 1 star from me for getting my hopes up and letting me down.
Developer Response Hi Kopextacy. I’m sorry to hear about your troubles with Crew Call. The feature that you describe is actually on my to do list and will be pushed out in the next update. What you are describing is negotiating a 12 Hour Rate with Production but using an 8 Hour Rate as your base. The 12 Hour Rate is then made up from 8 Hours at 1.0x (Base Rate) and 4 Hours at 1.5x. It is essential to use an 8 Hour Rate as your base so you have correct calculations for 1.0x and 1.5x. The new update will have a Rate Assist Tool that lets you put in your 12 Hour Rate and it will calculate your 1.0x and 1.5x based on the current Overtime Calculation, thus correctly setting your base 8 Hour Rate. I recently workshopped this with another US Crew Member and we implemented a new Minimum Work Day Option so you can have your Min 12 Hour Day calculated at the correct penalties. If there is something that doesn’t work for you, all you need to do is ask and we’ll make it a reality. The best way to contact us is via the form in-app or by email. I trust in time we’ll be able to turn this 1 Star Review into a 5 Star Review. Thank you for sharing your feedback!

Hello Film Crew,
This release contains a number of new features and performance improvements:
• Introducing Auto Calculate Mileage! With the tap of a button chargeable mileage for a Work Day can be automatically calculated. Shooting locations, distance from your base radius and travel to accommodation on away jobs is considered. This can be accessed from Notes → Mileage when logging a Work Day. This feature depends on your Base Location, Base Radius, Logged Locations and Home Locations being set for a Work Day, this is accessed from Notes → Locations. Requires iOS 15 or later.

Primary/Secondary Billing Details can be edited from Invoice Settings. Invoice Templates can be assigned Primary/Secondary Billing Details to speed up the invoicing process. This is super helpful for crew who bill their Labour as an individual (ie. PAYG) and their Equipment/Mileage as a Sole Trader or Company (ie. ABN).
• Optimised the internal database so that Crew Call Backups are much smaller when using Location Based Features.
• When the app first opens a new loading screen will show when performing long running database migrations.
