Free tool for anyone concerned about domestic abuse.
Bright Sky US is a free, downloadable mobile app that provides support and information to anyone who is in an abusive relationship or worried about someone they know.
The app is available in English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese.
Caution:
* Bright Sky is an information app, not a safety app.
* If you feel in immediate danger, contact 911 immediately.
* For your protection, we recommend that you only download the app on a device that is safe for you to use.
*Do not download the app if you are concerned someone else has access to your phone or cloud information.
* Fill out the questionnaires only if you are in a private place, preferably alone, so that no one is able to influence the result.
* Before using the app's “My Journal” feature, make sure you have an email address that is secure and that no one else has access to. If necessary, you can create a new one.
* For privacy purposes, some addresses in the "Find Help" tool of the application are hidden. You can contact the organisations by phone.
* Please note that all calls made through the app will appear in your phone's call history and on the payer’s bill.
* The questionnaire "Am I at risk?" in the app is designed to give you an indication of signs of potential abuse in a relationship, or, in the "Family or friends at risk?" section, in the relationship of a friend or relative. However, this shouldn't be taken as the only indication of the health of a relationship. If in doubt, we always recommend contacting your nearest support or learn more about how you can help someone you know, which can be found using the app.
Features:
A unique US wide directory of support services specialising in domestic abuse. You can contact the one closest to you by phone from the app, by searching by area name or zip code, or by using your current location.
A secure “My Journal” feature, where you can record incidents of abuse in the form of text, audio, video or photos, without any of the content being saved on the device itself.
Questionnaires to assess the safety of a relationship, and an educational section focused on explaining myths about domestic and sexual violence.
Information about domestic abuse and the various types of support available, advice on how to improve your online safety and help someone you know if they are experiencing domestic abuse.
Advice and information on sexual consent and stalking & harassment.
Contact details for national helplines that provide support to victims of domestic abuse and sexual abuse throughout the country.
Links to resources and additional information on topics related to domestic abuse.
