There are so many things that this app gets right. It looks great; it’s not too flashy or big, it’s simple and looks like the old computer game. Other apps I’ve tried make the boxes unnecessarily large. This game does not need embellishment. I like that the blank grids automatically fill in when you tap a block adjacent to them. I like that I can stop a game halfway through and come back to it later as long as I don’t close the app. The issues I’ve encountered are annoying enough that I occasionally search for other minesweeper games. 1. I don’t like that when you open a new game, there isn’t a little space to get me started. I can deal with this, I guess - I just don’t like that my stats show that I’ve lost so many games, when actually most of them are just me poking around trying to get a small section started so I can play. 2. There is a freakish amount of games that I lose because the numbers aren’t right. I started screenshooting (screenshotting?) all the games I’ve noticed that ended because I tapped on something expecting only two bombs to be touching it, but there are actually 3, or there are two bombs touching a 1, or whatever. This drives me literally insane and I have to laugh at myself because now I’m mistrustful of the numbers. I’m like crazy Charlie Kelly with all my pictures. I’m obsessed with minesweeper, and I just want a simple, good, reliable game. This is the closest I’ve found, but it’s so close to being perfect. I don’t know what it takes to develop a game of minesweeper, but I hope the developers know how much I appreciate their beautiful app and know that I’m reviewing because this is the only thing I care about, and want it to be perfect. I would pay for this app if these things were fixed. I want to see my real stats. That is what drives me in life.
