I stopped using Sygic a year ago due to No AppRadio support on the North American version and other problems. After watching how TomTom was continually updating the maps either because of Apple or the customer base outcry. I looked into Sygic again out of curiosity. I decided based on website overview of this version and the sale price at the time to try again. I could have waited for them to updated my existing version for free, but I want to try it. First of all, the routing is much better than in the past and the UI is a major step forward. The terrain feature works and it is distinguishable for the mountain views, valleys, etc… I found it comes in handy during night driving. Sygic needs to iron out some problems the with search features. I do find that sometimes the address are not exact and can not be found. Thus some of the really bad ratings seen here. I have not purchased the traffic option and I can not report on the detour routing. I used this version on 2000 mile roundtrip from my location to St. Louis and I enjoyed it.I have to say for a company to start from scratch again, you have to give them credit. For them to put this much effort to improve it and based upon the ratings, they have to continue with rectifying their customer base problems. Granted, their is no support for AppRadio, but I use the HDMI mirroring and have became used to the process. I wish to see this running on Apple’s CarPlay with out any question. Overall, i should have given this a 3 star, but the effort in these release deserves my rating. A note to Sygic, work on those issues and keep the price low for others to enjoy and CarPlay support.

I put this app through its paces using the Long Island Expressway for 40 miles during sometimes peak traffic times. The fundamental navigation system is fine, but there are some rough spots and issues which need to be fixed before I will give us a five star rating. The most common error that I saw was a failure of the software to indicate exit numbers and sign posting for exit upcoming on freeway. This could be dangerous if the driver is not familiar with the route, for instance, approaching the Long Island Expressway in Queens, New York, exit number and proper name of the exit failed to appear until about 1/2 mile from the exit itself in New York, especially the metropolitan areas exit, frequently on the left and right side so the failure of software to name and call out accurate label and exit with the number in the name can be dangerous if it involves crossing multiple lanes of traffic at the last minute. The map detail seems to scale properly with an overview of the route and accurate scaling for exits with multiple lanes, but the clarity of verbal instructions is not up to par with either Google maps or Apple Maps. The instructions must be clear verbally as well as in these application without any doubt as to which side and which exit to to use. The software appears to have an advantage and downloading maps, which can be done at home so as to minimize mobile data use, but that advantages outweigh by the loss of entry and exit detail on expressways.

Downloaded this app. Good to have a trial period. Very customizable with settings. One of the few nav apps that allows “play over Bluetooth HFP” which is a much needed option as I often listen to the radio while navigating and this option allows me to hear voice guidance at the same time. I’ve tried CoPilot, TomTom Go and other nav apps and they do not have this option which is a NO GO for me. Also, there speed limit and driving speed is a desired and positive option, the option for waypoints is also a desired and positive option. All of which makes this app a good choice for me. However, not have route options to allow alternatives is a downer, which is a great option for both Google Maps and Waze, which would be a great addition to Sygic. Lastly, I have significant lag issues when going to use the FAVORITES option. I made a support request and sent a video to the developer to demonstrate this issue. It is painful to watch let alone experience. Their support folks replied in less than 24 hours to my ticket, although they commented to expect a reply in 3-5 days, which in todays world of sloppy support KUDOS to them for their promptness. Hopefully they will issue a quick fix. Overall, I’ve rated the app a 3 of 5, with the idea to offer a 5 of 5 following the FAVORITES issue getting corrected. All said for the reasons noted, I would encourage anyone to check this app out, especially if the noted features are important to you. Good luck.

I give up on gps. I don’t know if apple screwed this phone up, or if every navigation app is just trash. This is the fourth one I have used and all of them are unreliable, buggy and let’s be honest dangerous because we all get distracted and confused when the gps freezes, starts flipping around, changing your turn at the very last second before changing it again as soon as you commit to the turn. Also, it would be very helpful if you could click on roads and change your route that way when you set it. Instead you have to put in a ton of waypoints so the gps doesn’t constantly try to change your route. For instance I have family in Dallas Ft Worth who know the local secrets to avoiding traffic and construction. It’s impossible to take this route with the gps on because unless you put in numerous waypoints it’s constantly trying to fight you and redirect you into a traffic nightmare. Maybe one day gps companies will realize that having someone draw their finger down a route they want to take in order to change on the fly is a no brainer. Obviously also spit out the generic traffic filled route if someone doesn’t know or have a preference. Quality of life for customers is something very few companies seem to care about though. Navigation is only as good as the reliability. I could care less about HUD, or any of that other mess as long as the gps works 100%. When a gps works like crap then even if it’s pretty it’s still crap.
