Log your food and get back to your life

TL;DR: It's a great app overall, but particularly if you log food by weight, this is the app for you. Full review: I've been using FitBee for two weeks, and for the first time in three years, my body weight is finally heading in the right direction. I've tried three other apps, but none worked for me. The difference is that those apps put their emphasis on having huge food databases, but seemed to give very little thought to the workflow of logging what you eat. With them, I found myself endlessly searching for an entry in their (you might say bloated) food databases, and/or then tapping away at their clunky data entry screens to get the record in (logging by grams/weight exacerbated the issue). With time, I gave up on each one. By contrast, FitBee gets the basics right, and recording a log entry is about as few steps as it can be. (As a bonus, because it's quick to log food, I can add up the calories before I actually eat, and avoid giving myself a food coma.) As for the food database, it's a good size - in two weeks of eating, I've only had to manually enter one food. I also appreciate that I haven't had to rifle through a bunch of unvetted outside additions with incomplete or erroneous data. FitBee is still growing - it needs multi-device sync, expanded Shortcuts support, and I'd love the option to keep my data entirely in iCloud for privacy. Even in its current state though, it's the leader of the pack in my eyes.

At the time I’m writing this, it’s been 18 days that I have had the app and it has exceeded my expectations. The free version does everything I was looking for that I used to use in the other app’s free version everyone uses, but the other app is now charging for things like barcode scanning. After just a few days, I saw that FitBee worked so well that I could just use the free version and be happy. I tried the free week of premium features just to check them out, and they are superb. I liked it so much that I went for the annual subscription.I have already turned on a couple of people to the app and they are equally impressed. Had I known how much I was going to like the app, I would have bought the app with the one-time purchase offer. But hey, the annual subscription may help to ensure this app sticks around. It’s so good that it’s one of the few apps I’m happy to pay for to get all the bells and whistles.UPDATE: It’s several months down the road now and this app has been instrumental in helping me lose 22 pounds and counting. The features keep improving and the library is getting more robust. I’m even happier with the app now. I can’t recommend it enough.

Super Easy to use and free version version lets me scan

I’m new at this (second full day) but finding that with the free scanner I can get almost all my regular foods added. I started with a rival app yesterday but it requires everything be entered by hand without getting the premium version. This app lets me get a real feel for it’s utility without making me pay for a month. It is also easy to create a recipe for a meal you regularly eat. I will most likely buy the premium version since this is nearly perfect. I do see one area which would undoubtedly make this head and shoulders above rival apps. The developers should make it possible for me to add foods I always have on hand without having to add them to a meal or snack. I saw another reviewer also suggested having a “Pantry” users could store their regular foods in for quick access. I have made a work around by adding products I will use soon and putting them in a meal or snack with the smallest possible quantity like 1/8 serving or 1 gram so I can retrieve them tomorrow or later this week without having to scan labels and add micro nutrients. In short I love this little app and am happy to add new brands of food from Central Texas to the database so future users can easily add them without scanning. Thank you for the great app and keep making it better.

Enjoying this app so far. It does everything I need. I’m a really big fan of the simple and intuitive UI. I was using Cronometer which had all the functionality I wanted on the free tier but had some quirks I wasn’t a fan of. I love that FitBee offers a monthly, yearly or a one time payment option. Happy to support a team that makes something I use and enjoy. I do have better luck using FitBee if I go to a restaurant like a national chain and the item isn’t in other databases, it’s typically on here. If it’s not, I can use the describe feature to say what it is and it’ll pop right up. Haven’t messed around too much with the AI photo logging as accuracy is important to me. The “describe” feature, is phenomenal if I prepped one of my go tos but forgot to log it. The barcode scanning recognizes some foods and brands that Cronometer wouldn’t and being able to point camera at the front of product packaging and not use barcode is a handy feature to me. TLDR: Properly pulls Apple Watch and fitness data to adjust my calories on the fly as my job and workouts can vary in intensity. Packed with convenient features that I’ve found to work well, their verified and community food database seems more robust than other apps. Recommending this app to friends and if you can afford to pay for the premium features and they are of use to you, I recommend it.
