There are a lot of reviews about being charged when they didn’t mean to buy/pay for the app. Just fyi, there is a pattern with app intros these days where after you enter some preliminary information, a full-screen premium signup form appears and asks if you want to pay THIS way or THAT way. Well in most cases you can just close out of that full-screen form completely and continue using the free version of the app. Just look for a way to close the full screen form…Anyways—about the app:First of all, this app is mostly great. I downloaded a few apps to try all at the same time and this one (to me) is the easiest for logging meals.Improvement suggestions:High importance:There is no easy way to log insulin for meals. I’ve just been putting my boluses in the meal notes (if I even remember). The only way to log insulin is to log a blood glucose reading. Please PLEASE add a “log insulin” option when logging meals!Other things I noticed:I use a Dexcom CGM, so when I look at the weekly and monthly views of my glucose readings, they look CRAZY (so many dots stacked on top of each other). So I would just suggest adjusting the UI so it’s easier to see an average for the week/month.The Dexcom CGM readings seem to be delayed. At the time of writing this review it is 11:09am, but the glucose readings in the app stop at 7:29am.The big meter for “Today’s Calories” almost never shows any progress until I tap into it and then go back to the Home Screen, then the meter shows my progress.Minor but nice to have:The barcode scanner works most of the time, but it doesn’t recognize a lot of things. I’m curious if you could adopt something similar to what Yuka uses? Just seems like thousands of items are readily available in that app and others.A widget option that is “log meal” or “log insulin” instead of just log glucose!

We’ve shared your input with our development team as we continue working to make the app even better for our users. Thank you for helping us improve!
Disappointed. It had potential, but…

I’ve been trying to use this app for a few days and now I regret paying for it before I could actually try it out. I haven’t been able to pull up my previous entries when adding an ingredient when creating a meal. You have to keep re-entering them or search through a list of everyone else’s. Then I’m not sure what happens, but after I re-input everything and save the meal, there are things missing like the picture or an ingredient. I go back to edit it again, re-entering everything and by the time I go back to my list of created meals, I see that they were all added, even the ones that were not correct. So then I tried to delete the meals that are not correct, but there is no delete button that I can see. It allows you to edit, but not delete. By now I’ve wasted 30 minutes of my time entering nutrition info and trying to find it again. And I just can’t do this every time I need to create a meal. It had potential but needs a lot of work as far as navigating through it and editing/deleting entries. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS! You will be disappointed.
Developer Response
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience - we’re truly sorry for the frustration. Please note that you can delete your logged entries in the 'Track' tab by clicking on the 'Edit' button near the logged meal. It will give you two options: to delete and edit. However, your feedback is extremely valuable, and we'll consider it for future app improvements.
Life changing!!!

The best thing that I have ever done for my diabetes, is purchasing the MyDiabetes app. I bought it during Christmas when it was on special for $1. I started it on January 13. I have dropped 33 pounds, my A1c went from 8.4 down to 7.1, my doctor has completely taken me off of all of my insulin, and started me on Jardiance. This is the best app I’ve ever come across, because I don’t have to think for myself. It literally tells me what I’m gonna eat for every single meal, what my portions are gonna be, and even tells me what groceries I’m going to buy every single week. It is $55 every three months, but my doctor wrote me a letter of recommendation for this app, and now my health and benefits card reimburses me every time I have to pay for this. It is hands-down, the best thing I’ve ever done for my health. I am so lucky that I found this app. Because I will tell you that I am a lazy person, and this app has literally changed my life.

Good recipes and tracking, but needs a recipe builder
JessZee
I started using this app a week ago, after hearing for the first time that I was pre-diabetic. Initially, I was impressed with the recipes that were included, and I bought ingredients to try out a few; but I have some go-to recipes that I regularly make (like my cottage cheese egg cups that I eat for breakfast, most days). When I tried to log them, I realized that there was a meal builder (for individual meals), but not a recipe builder (where I could add all ingredients from a recipe and the # of servings, and get the calorie/nutritional log for one serving). This is something I have been able to do in the past in other food tracking apps, including the free versions. Because I cook from scratch so much, this is a deal breaker for me. If you are going to stick to recipes in the app and/or single serving meals that can be easily logged, then its a pretty good app; but if you like to cook and have a lot of recipes you still plan to make that are not in the app, you may find it frustrating, as well.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the app! You can actually create and log your own meals! You can do that by following these steps: click on the '+' icon > 'Other food' > My meals > Create a meal. By following these instructions, you will be able to add your own meals which consist of your own ingredients and amounts. You will also be able to get back to those meals any time. If you need any further assistance with this, please, contact us directly at info@mydiabetes.health and we'll be happy to assist you further.
