Golf Sync: Connect Play Engage
Golf with friends, simplified
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Golf Sync is the group-chat-that-actually-golfs for your weekend foursome — and the league that grew out of it.
Stop coordinating tee times in five separate text threads. Stop spreadsheeting handicaps. Snap a paper scorecard and watch every hole fill in by itself.
WHAT IT DOES
Tee-time polls that actually settle.
Pick three Saturdays. Your foursome votes. The thread closes itself when you have four. No more "is anyone in for 8 a.m.?" left on read.
Snap a paper scorecard.
Our AI reads pars, yardages, and your strokes from a photo in 10 seconds. Works on the napkin-sized scorecard your club hands you. No typing.
Clubhouse Chat for your group.
One tap to start a new chat. Group threads for your league, DMs for your foursome, picker for the people you actually play with. No more searching three apps for who said what.
Group rounds with money in.
Track who paid, who's playing, who's the marker. Your league owner sees who needs to Venmo without chasing.
Tournaments built for organizers.
Stableford with USGA-correct stroke index. Net allocation. Countback tiebreaks. Multi-course tournaments — run a 4-week league across 4 different courses. Per-flight leaderboards so your A-flight isn't reading off the same board as the scratch golfers. Live leaderboards your foursome can refresh on the cart path.
Team play, including Ryder Cup style (preview).
Two-team format, match play scoring, points roll up to the team — same shape as the tournament you watched on TV last September. Jump straight from your league page to whatever's live.
Per-hole detail that respects your time.
Pars, yardages, gross + net on every scorecard, hole-by-hole. Standard mode for "just strokes." Advanced mode when you actually want to track GIR, putts, fairways.
Polls that reach everyone.
League owners post a poll, every member gets an email — so the people who don't open the app every day still vote. Multi-question support for the "where are we playing next month and who's bringing the beer" kind of post.
Peer-rated partners.
Played with someone? Rate their pace, etiquette, honesty. Build a private profile of who you want to play with — only visible after multiple independent reviews so it stays honest.
WHO IT'S FOR
Weekend foursomes who book the same Saturday tee time week after week.
Organized groups — the ten friends who play together every weekend but don't call it a "league." Polls, chat, roster, scoring. No tournament setup required.
Casual leagues — Stableford, scrambles, Ryder Cup weekends, club championships — where the organizer is one person with a real job.
Tournament organizers who want a leaderboard they're not building from a Google Sheet.
WHAT'S DIFFERENT
We don't send you generic "rounds in your area" notifications. We don't badge-gate features behind ads. We don't make you type your scorecard.
Free through June 30, 2026 — no credit card required. After that, the free plan stays free for everyone who plays in someone else's league. New membership options for league and tournament organizers are coming in a future update.
Built by a former weekend-foursome organizer who got tired of texting six people to lock in a Saturday tee time.
Voice-powered scoring
Record your score, ask for the current leaderboard, or look up your round without breaking your swing rhythm. Works with Siri on iOS.
Snap-a-card
Already wrote your round on a paper scorecard? Snap a photo and the app reads every hole automatically.

Much appreciated!! Thanks!
• Golf Sync now runs on iPad.
• The Event Desk for iPad: check players in at the registration table, signed in or with a station code. A check-in made while the wifi is down is saved on the iPad and sent when it reconnects.
• At the desk: put a substitute in a no-show's spot, see every volunteer's post and every team's starting hole, and run the day's groups and finish.
• Contest holes: a volunteer's iPad records closest-to-the-pin and long-drive marks. A mark saved twice counts once, and the last one can be taken back within 15 minutes.
• Day-of on your phone: "Right now" shows where every team is, what needs you, and what's left before you finish.
• Scorecards: a "Just the scorecard" view, and contest holes you can't miss.
• Pace of play names each group by its team.
• Find on the event console: any setting or card, in the words you'd use.
• For league organizers: undoing a call-off asks whether to tell everyone, a paused day-before reminder says so, and setting up next season never makes the same season twice.
• Rate Golf Sync: a new row under Account → Support.
• Fixes: you stay signed in more reliably, and every member's league dashboard loads again.
v7.10.0 1d ago
• Pickleball, bocce and mini golf: an event can now run court tournaments alongside its golf, each with its own board of courts, pools, results and bracket.
• Starting holes on the day: organizers walk the carts and tap each team's starting hole, or read the cart sheet from a photo.
• Match cards now say who is up and how far through the round ("1 UP", "All square · Thru 5").
• Leagues: weekly scoring that opens and finalizes on its own, calling off a week, emailing results, automatic pairings, a league time zone, handing a league to a new owner, and setting up next season.
• Check-in, Finishing and Withdrew now work on league rounds too.
• Account → Legal lists the data sources behind our course and map information and the open-source software inside the app.
• Course search lists the courses in Golf Sync's directory; a course that isn't there can be added by name.
• Reliability and security fixes.
v7.7.0 5d ago
WHAT'S NEW (App Store, version 7.6.2)
Score your way
• New number pad: tap a score box and pick the number, and it jumps to the next player or hole. Prefer + and −? Switch between the two above the scorecard, and your phone remembers your choice.
• Stroke dots: a dot shows where a player gets a stroke, by each name in a match and by each hole on your own card.
Contests without a tape measure
• Closest-to-the-pin can now be played the easy way: if you're closer, put your name on it. The newest name goes on top, and your scorecard shows who's leading.
Match play
• After a match is decided, the scorecard stays on the match view, so whoever is scoring the group can keep entering everyone's holes.
For organizers
• Record bocce and other game results right from the tournament's board. Each result goes straight into the cup standings and onto the TV.
v7.6.2 Oct 16
Start a league from the app
• Send a request to start your league: pick one season or a full year, tell us about your league, and follow your request until your league is switched on.
Running a tournament?
• Organizing a charity scramble, an outing or a member-guest? New organizers now find Golf Sync XP on the home screen, on the Tournaments tab and on the first screen after sign-up.
Also in this update
• The code card now reads "Tournament code".
• Fixed: "Open system settings" now opens the Settings app on iOS 27.
v7.6.1 Oct 15
Scorecards show how your team plays each hole when a round mixes formats.
Golf Sync XP events use the handicap your organizer set for you.
Signing your card follows your round's rules.
Block or unblock another golfer from a message conversation.
Add a casual round to your calendar in one tap.
When someone enters your scores, the notification opens that round's scorecard.
Organizers: weather delays that move every tee time, volunteer shifts, pace of play, and flight groups that move together.
Clearer wording when you claim your spot, plus fixes throughout.
v7.6.0 Oct 13
What's new in Golf Sync 7.5
• Finish your tournament from your phone: the new Finishing screen shows who is still out on the course, the winners, the contests, locking the scores, the TV and the final message to players, all in one place.
• Co-organizers can now build teams and sign up players from the phone, not just the event owner.
• Collecting entry fees at the check-in table? Mark a player paid (cash, Venmo, check and more) or waive their fee right from Registration and Check-in.
• Set up your Golf Sync XP event with the assistant, one question at a time.
• Already have a spot in a tournament? The join screen now tells you what to do: continue as your own spot, or let us know.
• Scramble and alternate-shot team cards keep scoring through dead zones on the course.
• Unlocking your phone between holes no longer signs you out, and "Playing today? Join with a code" is right on the sign-in screen.
• Bug fixes and improvements.
v7.5.0 Oct 9
This update brings everything we've shipped over the past two weeks into one version.
• Golf Sync XP events: one event code now opens every tournament in your event, with season standings or the cup in one place.
• Run event day from your phone: withdraw, disqualify or reinstate players, enter a paper scorecard, manage join codes and the waitlist, record match results, set side-pot winners, change the course and set team handicaps.
• Tournament screens now have Play, Leaderboard, Field, Standings and Info tabs, with flight filters. Crowded shotgun starts show wave letters like 7A and 7B.
• New Past Events screen: every finished event and where you placed. Your handicap history now shows who changed your handicap and why.
• More reliable scoring: scores entered with no signal are kept and sent later, and scanning a scorecard warns you before it overwrites holes you've already saved.
• Post closest-to-the-pin and long-drive results from the hole you're on. Start and correct Wolf, Skins, Vegas and BBB games from your phone.
• Sign in with Apple or Google and your league invitations still work. You stay signed in after changing your password.
• A new "Emails from my organizers" switch on the Account tab.
• How-to guides and Help open the latest guides, and the assistant is now called Ask Golf Sync.
v7.3.0 Sep 29
Event pages for multi-round events: one code now opens the whole event — every round with its own "Join" button, plus the season standings and the cup.
Match play, easier: Ryder Cup-style rounds open straight on the Match scorecard, and you can score your whole match — partner included.
Sturdier scoring: clearing a hole in a dead zone now sticks, Best Ball players score on their own card, and scoring grids only offer players you can actually score for.
Clearer leaderboards: points seasons show points, a held board says which hole it's held through, and a finished round's code tells you the round is over.
For organizers: payout edits keep your custom split and side-pot winners, and seats someone has already claimed show as taken.
Plus bocce and other non-golf games in team events, and many smaller fixes.
v7.2.0 Sep 25
Scoring a team round on your phone
Match play, best ball, scramble and alternate shot rounds can now be scored from your phone. Open the round and tap Open Scorecard to enter your strokes hole by hole. In match play you enter your own card and your opponent enters theirs.
Plus handicaps stay plus
If you play better than scratch, your handicap no longer loses its minus sign when you edit it. The number keyboard on that field now includes a minus key.
You'll know when your scores aren't counting yet
If your round uses teams and you haven't been put on one, your scorecard now says so. Your strokes are saved the whole time, and they start counting the moment the organizer adds you to a team.
Entry fee and round details are edited in one place
Organizers: the entry fee, field size, max players and registration deadline are now edited only on the Field & Entry card, and the description, date and start time only on Basics. Editing a round no longer risks clearing a setting you changed somewhere else, including an entry fee quietly dropping to $0.
v7.1.2 Sep 23
Run your event from your phone.
EVENT SETUP, NOW ON MOBILE
Three new tabs in the event console let you change things you
previously had to open a laptop for:
• Basics — name, date, tee time, location, description
• Field & entry — field size, players per flight, registration
deadline, entry fee
• Season & points — how a round feeds your season standings
Moving a tee time from the clubhouse car park, or raising the
field cap because two more players turned up, no longer means
finding a computer.
LEADERBOARD FIXES
• Team match play (Ryder Cup style) rounds showed an empty
leaderboard even when every match had been scored. Fixed.
• If you published a per-player board alongside a team board,
the app was hiding it. It now shows both, and the switcher
moves between them.
CHECK-IN
Players who don't have a GolfSync account are now marked in the
walk-up picker, so you can see before you tap. On rounds that
require verified players, you can add someone with a short
reason instead of hitting a dead end at the first tee.
v7.1.0 Sep 19
Getting onto your round, rebuilt.
• Big fields: on events with hundreds of players, searching now covers the
whole field — so you can always find your name.
• Clearer failures: if the leaderboard or your scorecard can't load, the app
says so instead of looking like nobody has teed off.
• Organizers: release a mis-claimed spot straight from your phone, and seat
walk-ups at the desk even on accounts-only rounds.
• Fixes to scoring on shared spots, voice scoring, the watch, side games and
match-play boards.
v7.0.0 Sep 18
Joining an event is more forgiving. If you open your event before you've picked your name from the team list, the app now takes you straight to that list instead of showing an error.
v.6.12.0 Sep 12
Hand the phone to your hole volunteer without hunting for the right screen — the volunteer check now sits right under the scores it is signing for, on whichever card you are looking at. And a score a volunteer already signed is no longer frozen: fix it, and the hole simply asks to be signed again.
• The volunteer check is attached to the bottom of your scorecard, on the hole you are on
• Correct a score after it has been signed — it still counts, and the hole is marked for re-signing
• Shotgun starts: your card opens on your group's hole and plays in your order, so a group starting on 7 reads "thru 6" after six holes
• Sponsor holes and mulligans follow the hole you are actually playing
v.6.10.0 Sep 10
Scoring a group just got simpler. The volunteer check now lives right inside the scorecard, under the same rows your group just filled in — no second screen, no re-reading the same four names twice.
Rounds with hole volunteers now open on the all-players view, so the phone carrying your group's card starts on the screen it's actually scored from.
Scramble and best-ball rounds can now be signed by a hole volunteer too.
v.6.9.5 Sep 8
Scorecards now draw the round you're actually playing — a 10-hole putt putt
round shows 10 holes, not a blank back nine.
Putt putt rounds no longer ask which tees you're on, and the team board shows
your Total instead of a to-par number that doesn't apply.
Mistyped a tournament code? You can now enter a different one instead of
getting stuck.
Golf Sync XP events have their own spot on your dashboard and open straight to
the event — no more landing on the request form.
Scores you enter while service is spotty now say plainly that they're waiting
to send, and they send.
v6.9.3 Sep 8
Putt putt & scramble rounds, from the phone
Volunteer check at every hole. The player keeping the card hands their phone to the hole volunteer, who reads the group's scores, fixes any mistake, enters their code, and locks the hole. Affirmed holes show as locked on the card.
Check-in desk works for walk-ons. Search the roster by name or team, check people in with one tap, and seat a new group with names only.
The scorecard matches the round. A ten-hole round shows ten holes — no phantom back nine.
Par 1 and par 2 holes can now be set from the phone on putt putt rounds, with an "All par 2" shortcut.
Scores stay with their owner. A score saved offline on a borrowed phone now syncs to the right player's card.
v6.9.0 Sep 6
Golf Sync on your wrist.
• APPLE WATCH — Score your round from your watch. Enter strokes hole by hole and
they land on the same card your organizer and the rest of the field are
looking at. See where you stand between holes without taking your phone out of
the bag.
• STROKES GIVEN — Your watch marks the holes you get a shot on, allocated by
stroke index. Your handicap and running points show on the standing page.
• SCRAMBLES — On a team event the watch shows the side's shared card, names your
team, and asks before you replace a number a teammate entered.
• FULL SCORECARD — See your whole round the way a paper card shows it: front
nine and back nine, birdies circled and bogeys boxed, with OUT, IN and total.
• BACK TO YOUR HOLE — Check the leaderboard and come back, and you land on the
hole you were on instead of hole 1.
• LEAGUES — Season rules, adjustments and flights, a prior-results view, and a
clearer path when a season is reopened.
• Plus fixes to in-round purchases and a number of smaller corrections.
v6.6 Sep 1
Golf Sync XP now explains itself before you ask for one.
WHAT A GOLF SYNC XP ACTUALLY IS
Every competition has to be designed, built, printed, run and settled — that's 20 jobs whoever does them. Now you can see all of them, one tier at a time, and exactly which ones still land on you.
VIP REMOTE OR VIP ON-SITE
Tell us where you want us when you request an event. Remote means we design the competition, build it in Golf Sync, produce your materials and run the day with you. On-Site means we're at the course too. On-site depends on your location and we confirm before anything is invoiced.
YOUR PRODUCTS, ON THE HOME SCREEN
Play a Round, Tournament Center, Leagues and Golf Sync XP — all four, in one place.
ALSO
• Golf Sync Concierge is now Golf Sync VIP
• Clearer wording throughout a Golf Sync XP: it's a venture with rounds, not a season with tournaments
v6.5.4 Aug 26
Organizers can now run a team event start to finish from their phone.
ADD ANYONE, ACCOUNT OR NOT
Someone turn up who's never used Golf Sync? Add them with just a name. They count for
scoring straight away, and can claim their spot later if they join.
BUILD YOUR TEAMS
Create teams, move players between them, rename or dissolve them — or copy the groups
you already built in Pairings instead of starting over.
SCORE ON THEIR BEHALF
Enter a team's score yourself: hole by hole as they play, or just the final total when
a paper card comes back to you.
v6.5.2 Aug 25
Coming from 6.3, this update covers two releases.
RUNNING A ROUND
• Review paper scorecards from your phone. See the photo, enter the strokes, pick the right player when a card holds a foursome, and share a link for a card you're still chasing. Same panel as the web, on the Day-of tab.
• Check-in now reflects what it saved. Tapping a player did mark them checked in, but the screen never updated — so it looked like nothing happened, and tapping again quietly un-checked them.
• Cards that were never finalized could sit outside the season standings with nothing on screen to explain it. There's now one clear action per card and a banner showing exactly what's being left out.
SCORING ACCURACY
• Fixed a serious one: opening Hole Pars on a nine-hole round could replace the real card with eighteen invented par 4s, which then fed every net score and points calculation.
• Match play award mode and its point values are editable on the phone, and a hole-points season stays hole-points when you edit something unrelated.
• Season columns now read POINTS where the league scores points, instead of labelling a points total as strokes.
PLAYERS AND ROSTERS
• Season standings show whether you've met your league's minimum-rounds rule, so you know if you're actually in contention. Your position doesn't change — it just tells you.
• You can claim your name anywhere in the roster, not only in the first twelve rows.
• A school-team player can open their claim screen without being bounced to a login they don't have. Claim codes are now 8 characters and last 48 hours.
PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
• "My players" is now "Team stakeholders", and it only appears if a coach has actually linked you to a player.
v6.5.0 Aug 21
Parents and guardians
A coach can now add a parent by email, giving them a read-only view of their own player — stats and the practice schedule, and nothing else. Parents see only their own child, never other players on the roster, and never a coach's private notes.
Practices, RSVPs and pairings
Players get a calendar of upcoming sessions and can accept or decline each one, with a note if they can't make it, so a coach knows who to expect. Coaches can set pairings, and players see which group they're in before they get to the first tee.
Notes a player can read
Coaches keep their own private notes as before, and can now choose to share a note with a player. Shared notes show the coach when they've been read.
Manage a league from your phone
Events, seasons, courses, sponsors and season points are now editable on mobile, alongside side games, settlement and standings. Nassau and Best Ball games created on the web now appear correctly on mobile.
Fixes
• Scores no longer revert to a previous value while you're entering them
• Every team screen now has a back and a home control — you can no longer get stranded in a sub-menu
v6.3.0 Aug 18
Finding a tournament to play is a lot better this time around.
Opens to tournaments near you. The catalog now shows what's happening
around you as soon as you open it, instead of asking where you are
first.
One search box. Type to narrow what's on screen, or press search to ask
in your own words — "scrambles near Richmond in August" works.
See what you're signing up for. Events now show their format, team size
and start method, so you can tell a four-person scramble from an
individual stroke-play round at a glance.
Share a tournament. Send an event to the people you'd actually play it
with.
Plus a pile of fixes: dates read like dates, events that take mail-in
entries can finally be registered for, and reminders no longer tell you
they saved when they didn't.
v6.1.0 Aug 17
Team golf comes to Golf Sync.
Coaches can now run a whole program from their phone: build a roster,
schedule a practice round or match, and watch scores come in live while
players are still on the course.
Players join with a code from their coach — no account needed — and record
a full round: score, putts, greens, fairways, penalties and more.
• Live scoring board — see who has started and what they're shooting
• Coach's notes on any player, private to you
• Scores now save even with no signal and send when you're back online
• Find tournaments near you with AI search
v6.0.0 Aug 10
What's New in 5.0.12
• Promote your tournament from the app — request a sponsored highlight ($10/week Featured, $25/week Premium) with a live price total.
• Clearer sponsored listings in the Tournament Center with a "Sponsored" badge.
• Fixes and polish.
v5.0.12 Jul 31
Fairer finishes: in hosted tournaments, organizers can now hold the live leaderboard until every group is in — you'll see a clear "Scores held" note while it's paused. Plus: "Book a Round" is now "Organize a Round" (rally your group more easily), and expired-password sign-in now works smoothly. Polish and fixes throughout.
v5.0.11 Jul 24
