OffTrail — Offline GPX
Just load a track and ride.
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Ride it on CarPlay: perspective view, sub-tracks with their own colours, Group Ride riders in the car, smoother puck and rotation. Offline GPX navigation.
Adventure navigation made simple.
OffTrail is built for adventure motorcycles, 4x4 and off-road exploration. Import a GPX, create your own route, download the maps you need and ride — even when the signal disappears.
Free. No account required. Just pick a route and ride.
GPX NAVIGATION
• Open GPX tracks directly from Files, AirDrop, email or the share sheet.
• Load up to 5 tracks at the same time, each with its own colour.
• Turn-by-turn cues and spoken directions, each bend announced at the right moment.
• A course-up navigation view designed for the trail.
• Go off track and OffTrail shows the distance and direction back to the closest point.
• Wrong-way warning if you start riding the track backwards.
CREATE YOUR OWN ROUTES
Don't have a GPX? Build the ride directly in OffTrail.
• Generate routes to a destination.
• Choose the type of riding you want, with profiles for off-road motorcycles and 4x4, plus Road Fun and Road Fast.
• Create Round Trips of 25, 50, 100, 150 or 200 km that bring you back to where you started.
Route calculation requires an internet connection. Once your route and maps are ready, you can follow them offline.
CARPLAY
Put OffTrail where you need it: right in front of you.
Navigate your tracks and routes on CarPlay with native turn cards, spoken directions and a riding-focused map — even on downloaded maps with no mobile coverage.
OFFLINE MAPS
Adventure doesn't stop when mobile coverage does.
• Download maps for 100+ countries.
• Navigate downloaded areas without a mobile connection.
• Maps designed to keep trails and tracks easy to see while riding.
• Satellite imagery when online.
GROUP RIDE
Riding with friends? Create a Group Ride and share the 6-digit code.
• Up to 15 riders in the same group.
• See the group on the map in real time.
• No account required. Group locations aren't stored as ride history.
Live Group Ride tracking requires a network connection.
RECORD & SHARE YOUR ADVENTURES
Record where you've been, add waypoints along the way and export the ride as GPX. Turn a ride — or a track you're planning — into an OffTrail share card for friends or social media.
BUILT FOR REAL RIDING
• Motorcycle, 4x4 and road route profiles.
• Tracks, recordings, collections and waypoints.
• Handlebar remote support.
• Metric and imperial units.
• English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
• CarPlay.
• Auto Lock for compatible external displays, to prevent accidental touches on rough terrain.
PRIVACY
Your riding history stays on your device. Your location is only shared when you use a feature that needs it, such as Group Ride. Anonymous usage and crash diagnostics help improve OffTrail.
SIMPLE BY DESIGN
OffTrail started because we wanted an adventure navigation app that was simple, fast and functional.
Pick a route. Then ride.
OffTrail — See what you're missing.
more The app exceeded my expectations! It looks great, it’s fast and smooth. I was able to load a GPX track directly from Gaia on my phone. It’s a very good quality product! Good job!

lan on the web. Keep exploring with OffTrail.
• Send to OffTrail. Plan in the web Route Planner and import with a code or an “Open in OffTrail” link.
• See what you’ve ridden. The completed part of your Track now turns grey.
• Night map, your way. Turn automatic night mode on or off and choose Full or Soft, on your phone and in the car. Explore the new OffTrail map layer too.
• Plus reliability improvements and finishing touches.
1.26.1 Sep 13
Introducing Family Follow — share your live location with family and friends while you ride. They can follow your adventure from any browser, with no app or account required.
CarPlay improvements — your track stays visible and navigation is more reliable, even with problematic GPX files.
Navigation HUD improvements — new Climb and Sun cards, a clearer “To finish” card, and several refinements for a smoother riding experience.
1.25.0 Aug 28
OffTrail now runs on CarPlay. Your tracks and your position on the car’s screen, turn-by-turn guidance drawn by the car, and voice that speaks up whether you’re following a planned route or a track you loaded. Your garage, search, points of interest and recent destinations are all on the head unit, so the phone can stay in your pocket. The map goes dark with the car’s own day/night sensor, and downloaded countries keep working with no signal.
1.24.2 Aug 9
• Voice guidance is here: spoken turn-by-turn announcements during road navigation, in your language, with distance-aware prompts and an arrival announcement. Toggle it in Settings or right from the navigation quick-settings card.
• Plus small fixes and refinements.
1.22.2 Jul 29
- All-new Files screen: collections to organise your tracks, starred favourites (those are the ones on the map), the same preview everywhere and a clearer import.
1.22.0 Jul 22
New "Off Road Contrast" basemap — a high-contrast off-road map that colours trails by difficulty (green easy, brown moderate, red hard), with black singletrack, pink footpaths, purple cycle routes and legible road names. Seamless offline map borders: a downloaded country no longer shows a blank strip at its frontier. Plus map and offline reliability fixes.
1.21.0 Jul 14
Road navigation, done properly — plus a new map-first home.
• Road navigation with voice. Search a destination and get a road route with spoken turn-by-turn directions — roundabouts, keep left or right — plus clear guidance if you drift off the route.
• Search for places. Find towns, fuel, food, viewpoints and natural features, with smarter results that understand what you mean and rank by what's relevant and within reach.
• A new map-first home. Explore opens straight on the map: load a track and ride, switch between Off-road and Road, and set Home and Work for one-tap routes.
• Smoother live position. A rebuilt, fluid dot that keeps pace with you through corners, with a steadier heading.
• Made for tablets. On a tablet the whole app lives in a comfortable column with the map right beside it.
Plus wider device support and a round of battery, stability and performance fixes.

Sync your tracks across your devices — plus a smarter Navigate.
• Track Sync — pair two of your devices with a simple code and your imported tracks stay in sync, end-to-end encrypted. No account, nothing readable in the cloud.
• Smarter Navigate — set Home and Work and tap to ride straight there; search a place or paste a Google Maps link to go right into navigation.
• A full reliability pass on the sync engine — solid convergence, lighter on battery.
Plus the usual polish and fixes.
1.16.1 Jun 24
TURN-BY-TURN NAVIGATION — NEW
OffTrail now calls your turns. While you follow a track, the next manoeuvre, arrow and distance, appears right on the ride screen, worked out on-device from
the track itself. No data connection needed. Hairpins point back the way they should, and the next-but-one turn is shown too.
A CLEANER RIDE SCREEN
The whole ride HUD is redesigned. A tidy three-square cluster — your two chosen metrics either side of a focused middle — with the track name and progress
merged into a card on top and the map scale back at the bottom. Off-track and wrong-way warnings now take over the middle card in red, clear at a glance. Tap
any card to open one Trip · Cards dashboard. Free ride keeps its own simple layout.
GROUP RIDE, REBUILT
Sessions are now rock-solid. Everyone sees the same group, riders stay put on the map even through a signal drop, and the group ends cleanly at the set time — or the moment the host leaves. No more "I can see them, but they can't see me."
THE PUCK STAYS ON THE TRAIL
Fixed the dot drifting off the track and wandering through corners. It now hugs your line, especially on tight, slow curves.
ROUTES THAT PREFER REAL OFF-ROAD
"Track to" now leans into genuine off-road and steers away from tarmac and pedestrian paths, so a generated route feels right under your wheels.
Plus the usual round of polish and fixes.
Free. Built by a rider, for riders.
1.15.0 Jun 20
• New Navigate screen: choose how to ride — Follow GPX, Free Ride, Go to Location (tap the map or type GPS coordinates) or Round Trip (a loop of whatever distance you like, confirmed with Go).
• Record mode now lives in Navigate — arm it to capture your ride as a track.
• Track to routes and loops are saved under Files → Track to, and when you reach the end you can rate the generated route — it helps us improve routing.
• Generated routes now come from our new, more robust routing service.
• Controllers: pair a handlebar remote and map its buttons (zoom, recenter, waypoint, lock screen…).
• Menu on Home + Trip A/B reachable from Home.
• Map: essential POIs and peaks available offline, with more off-road detail in more countries.
• Clearer markers: start, finish and waypoints with proper icons and sizing.
• Smoother and lighter: auto-recenter after panning, steadier puck, long tracks render faster and your battery lasts longer on long rides.
1.14.1 Jun 12
A robust Off-road map, two trip computers, and downloads that look after themselves.
• Off-road map mode — a clean topographic look (muted woods, blue water, a clear track web) with named summits and a thinner track line. Open and ride.
• Trip A & B — tap the speed to open two independent trip computers: max and average speed, distance, moving and stopped time. A selector switches between them; Trip A auto-resets after a long break, Trip B only by hand.
• Line thickness — pick thin, medium or thick for any track or recording, right next to the colour.
• "Base" map + smarter Satellite — the detailed map is now called Base, and Satellite falls back to your last map when you lose signal.
• Downloads that look after themselves — a map download now resumes on its own after you close the app or lose and regain Wi-Fi, and no longer makes the app stutter while it runs.
• Smoother navigation — the line from your position to the track now glides with you, plus a broad performance and stability pass.
1.13.0 Jun 9
A big maps update.
• Richer maps — the full off-road trail and path network, much denser than before.
• Fast offline maps — download a whole country as a single file, with alerts when a newer map is available.
• Satellite now shows the same dense trail network.
• Screen lock — clean rain or dust off the screen without moving the map. Tap to lock, or enable auto-lock while moving in Settings.
• New "…" tools menu keeps the map controls (track overview, satellite, lock) tidy.
• Recentre now keeps your current zoom level.
As always: simple, offline-first, no accounts, no tracking.
1.11.0 Jun 5
Multiple tracks in one GPX
Import a file with several tracks and OffTrail keeps them apart — each as its own coloured line you can show, hide, or recolour, all under one entry. No more separate routes flattened into a single tangled line.
A smoother group ride
Join a session with a short 6-digit code, see everyone live on the map, and sessions now end cleanly on time — no more being left in a group that's already over.
A sharper ride HUD
Zoom in further for tight turns, speed sits front-and-centre, today's temperature moved to the top corner, and the +/– buttons grey out at the zoom limits.
Plus a round of fixes and polish across the ride screen, mini-map, and track previews.

SATELLITE, WITH LABELS
The satellite basemap now keeps place names and mountain peaks on top of the imagery — so you always know where you are, even off the tarmac.
YOUR TRACK TO ROUTES, SAVED
Every route you generate with Track to is now kept automatically under Files. Come back to a plan, preview it, share it, or ride it again — nothing's lost.
BUY ME A COFFEE
OffTrail is free and built by one rider. If it's been useful out on the trail, there's now an optional tip jar in About and on the home screen — no subscription, no unlock, nothing gated.
ALSO
• A track imported on mobile data now caches its map area as soon as you turn on cellular downloads (or get back to Wi-Fi).
• In north-up, your position stays centred when you toggle the satellite layer.
• A cleaner, more consistent stats card on track previews.
Free. No accounts. No cloud. Built by a rider, for riders.
1.9.2 May 31
A big update since 1.7.0:
• Track to (beta): long-press anywhere on the map and OffTrail builds an off-road route back to that point.
• Off-road / on-road split: see how much of a track, recording or route runs on dirt vs tarmac.
• Files: your ride History and your Record Mode captures, together in one place.
• Record Mode: flip it on from the home screen to capture and name a clean track as you ride.
• Apple Watch: ride status and off-track/wrong-way haptics on your wrist.
• Mini-map and a refreshed ride HUD.
• Made for iPad — the whole app now lays out properly on iPad, in any orientation.
• Light / Dark / System appearance, in Settings.
• Sharper, more legible UI on smaller iPhones, plus a fix for a rare recording data-loss issue — and lots of polish.
Thanks for riding with us.
1.9.1 May 26
Offline map downloads, reworked:
• Big countries are split into regions, with accurate sizes shown before you download.
• One download at a time — the rest wait in a queue instead of competing.
• Downloads continue in the background and resume automatically when Wi-Fi is back. Tap "Wait for Wi-Fi" and we'll start it for you later.
• Maps are now grouped into Downloading, Downloaded and Available, and a track sitting inside a downloaded country shows as covered.
Group ride:
• Riders now appear by name in the group list.
• The Home button gently pulses while a session is live.
• Reliability fixes so names and positions stay correct after the app reopens.
Also: an option for a smaller location arrow, plus fixes for a launch crash and offline detection.
1.7.0 May 22
Reverse a route, ride it the other way.
• Tap the new circular button on a track's preview - or long-press the track on Home - to flip a GPX end-to-end. A small arrow-loop badge marks the track on Home whenever it's running reversed; tap again to walk it back. No new file to manage, no extra slot, same color on the map.
The group-ride mini-map becomes a live radar.
• Every teammate appears as a colored dot on the panel. Teammates that leave the panel's frame turn into small chevrons on the edge, pointing exactly where they are. Tap the panel to fit everyone on the main map; tap again to return to your previous zoom and orientation.
No two riders share a color.
• The host stays brand orange. Every guest's slot is now assigned from the current roster, so no two riders ever read the same color on the map or in the roster.
Track preview keeps your zoom.
• The preview no longer re-zooms itself after the initial fit - small, but it makes "look at the whole route, then pinch in to study one section" finally work.
Home opens cleanly.
• No more flash of the empty hero before your tracks appear on cold launch.
Three more regions on the curated offline maps.
• Ukraine, Israel, and Japan join the catalog.
1.6.0 May 21
Version 1.5 brings OffTrail to your wrist.
• Apple Watch companion — keep your distance-to-finish, the next waypoint and off-track warnings on your wrist, with haptic alerts so you can ride with your eyes on the trail instead of the phone.
• Mini-map — toggle a full track overview on during a ride and see where you are along the whole route at a glance.
• Elevation profiles — see the climb ahead on the track preview and on your past rides.
• Stability and polish across the ride screen, and improved handling of GPX files when you edit waypoints.
Just load a track and ride.

Waypoints have landed. The landmarks on your route — fuel, viewpoints, hazards — now live on the map and in the ride HUD.
• GPX waypoints appear as pins along your track.
• The HUD shows your next waypoint and the distance to it.
• Long-press to add, edit, or delete a waypoint — changes save straight into the track.
• Wrong-way alert: a heads-up when you're riding a route against its direction.
• Sturdier offline maps — interrupted tile downloads now resume on their own.
1.4 May 18
Group Ride, sturdier and clearer.
• Group Ride survives app-switching — your session stays live until it expires or you leave, even if you check another app mid-ride.
• Every rider gets a distinct colour on the map and roster; the host stays brand orange.
• New: download offline maps over cellular — opt-in, in Settings › Storage.
• Cleaner first launch: straight to your tracks, no onboarding wall.
• Visual polish across Home, track rows and the About screen.
• A discreet recording dot on the ride screen, plus dozens of small fixes.
1.3 May 17
Plan before you ride, and a sharper Group Ride.
• Track preview. Tap any track on Home to read its route and stats before riding — for recordings, you also get duration, moving time and altitude range.
• Group Ride colours. The host stays brand orange; every participant picks up a distinct palette colour, matching on the map and roster across every device.
• Clearer off-track guidance. A white disc with a track-coloured arrow points to the nearest track, paired with the distance.
• North-up compass. The locate button now shows a real cardinal-North marker (▲ N) when the map is locked north-up.
• Polish everywhere — Trails + Satellite Off-road only, looped tracks with a dashed leash, and tighter portrait/landscape layouts.
1.2 May 16
New perspective view on iPhone, iPad and CarPlay, with separate phone and car preferences. See Group Ride riders and matching sub-track colours in CarPlay. Improved navigation layouts and progress bar. Now available in French. Import GPX directly into a collection, plus offline map and navigation fixes.
