Farm Tech Ready helps you assess your readiness before making an investment. Whether you are considering livestock monitoring sensors, automated feeding systems, milking robots, herd management software, or other farm technologies, successful adoption depends on more than cost alone. Developed by UW-Madison Extension, Farm Tech Ready helps farmers, consultants, lenders, and educators assess readiness for adopting new farm technologies. How It Works Complete a brief self-assessment by rating 27 statements across nine technology readiness categories: • Business Goals • Cost-Benefit • Infrastructure • Connectivity • Labor and Training • Support • Adaptability • Stakeholder Management • Production The assessment takes about 10 minutes to complete. Categories averaging 3 or lower are identified as areas that may benefit from additional planning, learning, or support. Technology Readiness Wheel View your technology readiness across all nine categories in a single visual summary. Guiding Questions Explore reflection questions designed to help identify knowledge gaps and next steps. UW-Madison Extension Resources Access research-based publications, planning tools, budgeting resources, producer case studies, and educational materials matched to your areas of need. Action Planning Support Use built-in reflection prompts to identify priorities, potential partners, and timelines for gathering additional information. Downloadable Report Create a PDF report containing your ratings, results, notes, and recommended resources. Privacy Your assessment responses remain on your device. Farm Tech Ready does not require an account and does not store or share your assessment results. About Farm Tech Ready is based on the Ag Technology Readiness worksheet developed by the Investment in Technology and Automation Workgroup with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension.
