Who says calendars can’t be fun? Not Fortyfour, that’s for sure. Want to make that meeting hot pink? Done. Got a trip coming up? Add a sticker to it. But the best part is how Vantage sorts your days into stacks so you can visualize how much is on your plate.

Cool calendar, but the to do list needs some tweaks

I really like the design of this calendar, and it includes the practical stuff as well as the pretty stuff – for example, you can see the whole month at a glance or your daily schedule. It also has one of my most sought after features, which is that it
embeds your to do list in your calendar, but there are a couple of wrinkles there that lost it its fifth star. First, while calendar events will except keyboard time inputs – for example you can type “tomorrow” and it knows what that means - the to do list does not. Second, you can’t schedule a to-do item for a date without also selecting a specific time. The time defaults to 10am, not a super practical choice for most, and there’s no way to change the default. Third, in order to set a due date, you have to open up the task. It ends up going, 1. Tap the add button or swipe down and type in the name of the task 2. Tap somewhere else 3. Tap back on the same task to open it up so you can select a due date. Pretty cumbersome if you’re adding a lot of stuff, especially with the often unnecessary time selection thing. I’m still going to try it for a bit, but it seems like these annoyances should be easy fixes - for example, using the all day event calendar option for non-time-specific to-dos or adding the keyboard time input to the to do list keyboard (why not just do this in the first place?!).

Still, very thoughtful calendar design and it’s both pretty and robust.

Pretty blown away by this little app

I have used iPhone native calendar, google calendar, and planner pro over the years. I found this, stumbled onto this app, and thought I would check it out. Frankly I liked the graphite clean look of the screen I found in the App Store and thought I would check it out. Wow what a neat app. Clever and stylish in looks but very capable in what it does = a great calendar AND Task manager in one fun little app. I don’t normally get impressed by iPhone apps, but this one surprised me. I almost didn’t download it because of the in app purchase price of $9.99, I was concerned that it might be some kind of silly monthly fee, but it was a one time purchase that opens up all the features. By the way they give you free access to begin with so you can try them all out, they call it points, when you get to zero points you have to make a decision as to whether you want to unlock all the features by paying the one time fee. Needless to say I paid one time fee and I am quite happy with what the app does. The only issue I am having, it is probably not the app, I am having a bit of a battery drain issue. It’s not a significant drain but it is a noticeable drain so I will continue to watch it. I am running an iPhone 6 with a replaced battery.
