Need notification when updates are made
This is a great app when it works. Today I got home from work (encumbered with all kinds of stuff)and it would not open my door. I dredged out my phone and opened the app and was greeted with a login page. What? I used the physical key to get in, set down all of my stuff and looked up the password so I could log in. Apparently Kēvo had updated the app. Why I had to log in again, I do not know. My suggestion is for Kēvo to text when there is an update that will require a login. Or not require a login.
Don’t try to contact support...
If you are looking into purchasing a smart lock you would be better off with August. When reviewing my options for my apartment I decided to go with the Kevo Convert as it had a more traditional look to it. I wish I had gone with the August Pro.
With Google’s planned shutdown of the “Works with Nest” program I am having to reshuffle my entire smart home system over to the Google platform from Alexa. I have reached out now 3 times across a span of a week to the customer support email to see if they will be supporting Assistant functionality and have not received a single response. I can only imagine if my device stopped working. All it would take is a quick response of Yes, No, or I don’t know but I can’t even get that.
Choose a different smart lock for your home if you ever want support to respond to you.
This is the first and only smart lock I’ve had. It works most of the time, but the touch to unlock has failed a multiple times, forcing me to pull my phone out and use the app to unlock it.
Also, what would make this lock so much better is if it would auto lock at a programmable time or after a certain period of time in case you forget to lock it. Or an alert that tells you the door is unlocked.
Since the update, the lock has worked even worse than before. It locks/unlocks by touch less than half of the time now. I don’t even bother touching it anymore, I just pull out my phone and use the app to unlock. Just today, I was on the other side of the house and my kids were touching the lock and unlocked the door while I wasn’t even near it. I regret spending the extra money on this lock.
