Needs the help of a UX designer
The app works... but having been full time using the RV, day in and out, there are a few things i feel need to be tuned.
My first gripe is that i have to sign in with my pin EVERY time i open the app on the phone. It should at least be able to activate through the modern phones with methods like (iOS) Face ID or thumb print or give the option to always just stay signed in.
The second is that the screen stays locked in landscape view, which makes the interface awkward to use and pretty much forces two handed/two finger-thumb operation. I wish there was a portrait mode, where i don’t have to turn my phone sideways every time and everything can just be shorter strokes with one hand operation. The third is the time it takes the animation to load the icons and how it shuffles them over as each comes about. The app is defiantly faster than the wall unit, which feels like you’re waiting on a snail to move 3inches. But I wish it would just appear in its final location and not animate and shuffle in. Just another thing that takes a few more seconds to wait on when I JUST want to turn on the lights already!
Developer Response ,
Thanks for your feedback. Many of the issues your have raised should be fixed in the next major release.
This is only barely more useful than using the OTCP inside the coach.
Your WiFi network MUST be named “MyRV_xxxxxx”, otherwise the app won’t even connect and you will not be able to setup/configure it (even though you are already on the same WiFi network on your iOS device). Why? Any software developer should know how to query or connect to devices on the same network/subnet.
Instead of a timeout or the ability to disable it, it asks for the security PIN every single time you switch away from the app, then switch back.
Every. Single. Time.
Now Lippert will say this is for “safety reasons” (don’t want your little kiddy operating the leveling system accidentally, do we). So - only put the safety features behind a PIN. Allow me to access the monitor panel or lighting functions without a PIN.
In my case, I see a “Fault Detected” message when I go to the slide operation. Despite the fact that I can operate the slide(s) fine with the manual switch. What is the “fault”, pray tell? I have no idea. And, should I get on the phone to Lippert for support, neither will they. If the software is detecting a condition that is not expected, log it so that the user can see it and possibly report it to support.
I see this app has 2.5 stars out of 5. I think some people are over generous.
Developer Response ,
I'm sorry you are having so many difficulties. We are working on some of the issues you have reported and will fix many of them in a future release. In regards to the Fault Detected error, if we could get more information about your coach, we might be able to better determine what this issue is.
App needs update (again)
App was updated 2 weeks ago and ever sends the update I cannot stay connected with out having to close the app and restart... also believe this is why when lifting my jacks they come up then stop wait a few seconds while holding down the retract and it will eventually start again. Also the connect time takes way longer after opening the app than normal, some times up to 30 seconds before it starts reading the current Tank levels. Please fix! I use this app Daily.
Developer Response ,
Please try v2.8.3 which just released today and let us know if it fixes the issue with your jacks.
