Literal Word is a NASB Bible app designed to provide straightforward access to the word of God.
Literal Word exists to promote the word of God and not much else. No ads. No articles. No logging in. No distractions. Simply the Word. We believe that the Bible contains the most important information that anyone could ever come across and that accessing it should be as easy as possible.
This belief has driven every decision we've made designing Literal Word. The NASB translation of the Bible was selected for faithfully utilizing a word-for-word instead of a thought-for-thought translation method. Each passage of Scripture is clean, customizable, and convenient to access, allowing the reader to focus exclusively on the God-breathed content. Word searches are simple but powerful, featuring a unique visual interface for organizing results with surgical precision, and complete lexicons for original Hebrew and Greek words can be viewed with just a couple taps.
All of Literal Word is offered free of charge, and all of it works without an internet connection. It all comes down to the idea that a straightforward approach to a Bible app maximizes attention to the word of God.
- Added source information for lexical definitions

Ratings and Reviews
This app is a fantastic recourse for Bible study. It has uses BDB for Hebrew definitions as well as Abbot-Smith’s lexicon for Greek. Using the lexicon feature shows the various definitions of a word (in Hebrew it shows the word’s meaning in various cases), allows you to see all the occurrences of a word in the Bible, and allows you to see a particular book’s use of the word. It does all of this offline, something that my Logos software cannot do. All for the fantastic price of 0 dollars.
I love this app! I love it’s simplicity, particularly allowing me to turn off all notes and even verse numbers (I haven’t found that feature in any other app), so I can read God’s beautiful “Letter” to me with more fluidity!
Yet, I also love the ability to quickly receive more precision in my understanding of particular words via the original languages and Bible editors footnotes.
Thank you for a job well done!
Best Bible App
I believe the NASB is the most accurate English translation of the scriptures, so when I saw this app get released, I downloaded it and fell in love with it immediately! A couple of my favorite features are 1) the easy highlighting and copying of individual or multiple verses, and 2) the Hebrew and Greek dictionary for key words in each verse. It’s also very user-friendly and east to navigate. Highly recommend this one!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
