It’s OK

They don’t give you a lot of information. They say $4 off ANY turkey with no elaboration. You buy turkey, submit receipt. Rejected. Ummm? It says turkey right there. I’ve had MULTIPLE rebates for “ANY” of X brand. Then bam rejected. It says ANY. The word any means just that..ANY! If it needs to be a specific item or product line then just SAY THAT. There was one for ANY Alter Eco chocolates. Bought some. Rejected. I don’t usually bother arguing because I honestly get tired of having to fight with companies over a few cents here and there. I’ll use the app sometimes but I don’t count on it for anything. Ibotta is vastly better overall. You can scan and doublecheck for a match before you buy. They are also very clear about what you need to buy for the rebate. None of this buy “any (insert brand name) item” bait followed by a rejection. Makeena does have excellent customer service but as I said I value my time and get weary of having to argue every third receipt. I’ve even had them reject the basic 150 point any receipt before. I mean good grief guys! ANY RECEIPT?! That was awhile back. Laughable. I didn’t bother arguing that one.

Thanks for your feedback, Mnmmm;3345.

On our app, we are offering $4 cash back on "Organic Turkey or Alternative" and then once you click on it, we have detailed "DEAL TERMS" in part as follows:

"Receipt must be submitted bu 11:59 PM ET, 1/1/2020.
Offer valid for the purchase of any organic fresh, frozen, or cooked WHOLE turkey OR any plant-based turkey substitute over $10. Item purchased at any retail location will be eligible for this offer. Must submit a photo of what you bought plus your receipt within 7 days of purchase. One cash back offer per household, and this offer is only available for the first 2,000 shoppers who redeem this offer."

There's more but in general we are trying to encourage our Makeena fans to buy better (organic or turkey substitute (many of the Makeena Team are plant-based but we recognize that people eat turkey - smile)).

Thank you again for being a loyal Makeena shopper. We hope we can do better, and of course, feel free at any time to reach out to us at support@makeena.com.

Straight forward and easy to use. Great natural products and brands.

I like this app. It took a little bit to figure out how to use this, but once I did it has been pretty straight forward to use. The customer service folks have responded quickly and have been helpful and courteous the few times I’ve contacted them - this makes them stand out above other apps! I already liked and regularly purchased several of the brands and products on the app. Others were new to me and have now become favorites. There are also rotating organic fresh produce and personal care items. I appreciate the variety and that Makeena regularly changes things up. I had no problem cashing out once I hit the minimum earnings to do so; it just took about a week to process. Overall, I’m pleased.

Thank you, havana-ana! We very much appreciate your review (and our healthy and eco-friendly focused shoppers) and are continuing to create a better app. Please reach out to us anytime with suggestions on how we can make this happen at support@makeena.com.

Great idea, poor execution

No idea how to cash out my savings from the app and there is no help or support pages.

ETA - 3 years later a developer responds to my problem? LOL, really? How about instead of pointing me to your help, you tell me the app has completely changed and come back to try it out again?

That being said, I honestly thought the app was dead and had deleted it from my phone. This was because first there were no new offers and then the app wouldn’t even open.

I went back and downloaded it again, but it didn’t remember my old account (I still have the welcome email in my archived mail.) No big deal, I joined a second time.

Lots of new offers. Now they do Paypal or venmo. Before it was some weird link to your bank account. Minimum cashout is now $20. Before...based on my emails, it seemed to cash out regularly.

The Brands screen looks almost exactly like Shrink, an app I used to love. Unfortunately, Shrink went belly up.

Newest iphone with newest ios has problems with unlock button and adding offers. Have to tap a bunch of times at bottom of the screen. It seems to be small area of the button that actually works.

Submitted my first rebates and only got 1 of the 2. Worked with support to get this cleared up. Folks were nice enough and did credit the next day. They say picture of the item was required. If that is the case, why didn’t the app require it before submitting it? Seems like there’s still bugs to work out.

Developer Response ,

Hi Filmfantaticzzzz, thank you for your review. Yes, the app has completely changed.

We have noted that with the newest ios on the newest iPhone there are some issues around where the brand can be unlocked for offers and rewards, and we are working on that (and other issues).

Re the Turkey or Turkey substitute offer, there are instructions in the details around redeeming the offer, and that particular redemption does require a photo of the item and not just a scan of the UPC and a photo submission of the receipt.

Before we used Cash now we use PayPal and Venmo because they are more mainstream. Through Cash we cashed out every day. We wait now until the shopper requests the cash out (and at a higher amount) so we can verify the activity on the account and make sure that the item/s haven't been returned.

Note that we are rewriting the app and plan to re-launch sometime in 2020.

Thank you again for your feedback!
