Description
A Medical ID is a useful reference when visiting a healthcare professional and could be life-saving in an emergency.
Create Medical IDs for yourself and, if required, other family members and dependents. Enter Personal Data, Medical Conditions, Allergies & Reactions, Medications, and Emergency Contacts. Use Other Notes for any other kind of information you want to record, such as insurance details, immunisations, family medical history etc. Attach photos from the camera or photo library. Attach photos or PDFs by importing them from iCloud Drive, Dropbox etc. or dragging and dropping them from other apps. Scan documents to create PDF attachments. Markup photo and PDF attachments to annotate, highlight or redact information.
Highly-customisable widgets are also available to show information from your Medical ID. Your iPhone/iPad can be configured to allow Today View widgets to be accessible from the lock screen without unlocking your device.
Lock Screen widgets are available on iOS 16. There are rectangular widgets for viewing an Emergency Contact or up to three Personal Details items. There are also circular and rectangular widgets which just open the app (this requires unlocking the device).
A Watch app gives access to your Medical ID without having to unlock your phone.
Back up your Medical IDs to iCloud Drive, Dropbox etc. for safekeeping or to copy them between devices.
Note: for space and usability reasons, photos and PDFs are not included in the Watch App or Widgets.

What’s New
Version 7.0
• Create additional Medical IDs for other family members and dependents.
• The Apple Watch and Widgets only show data from the first Medical ID to minimise confusion. Ensure your own Medical ID is first.
If you find Medical ID useful, please rate or review it in the App Store, or recommend it to family, friends and colleagues. This makes a huge difference to me and the future of the app.
Thanks in advance,
Geoff.
Ratings and Reviews
Greatly executed!
I’ve been looking for something like this and finally found it! We had a medical event traveling away from home some time ago when we needed to call 911. It was difficult putting together the immediate medical info for the first responders in that circumstance. Having this info so readily available would have helped us.
This app works great, very well put together. It gives options what info to include or not. Clean display. Looks great on the Today Screen. And have set that up to view on the Lock-screen.
UPDATED APPLE WATCH REVIEW:
Both Large and Small Complications are working perfectly on the Apple Watch 3 once I updated the iOS software. The developer is VERY responsive to questions and was helpful in helping me get the Watch set up properly.
My “ideal” wish list would be to:
Allow the addition of a birth year without having to put in month and day. Showing age is all that’s needed without giving private info. Although, I can make a date up.
Have an If Found field where contact info can be added if the device became lost. I’d like to be able to add my own email or alternative phone number if my device is found and I can only add a different contact. Right now, I’m choosing to add that to a note which works - but doesn’t allow direct dial.
Thank you!
Great app and great service
This is a great app for providing personal emergency medical info on both the iPhone and the Apple Watch. I got it primarily for its Apple Watch component and absolutely love it. I recently got a new iPhone and had a problem getting the Medical ID info to show up on the Apple Watch. The developer was VERY responsive in helping to resolve the problem. It was eventually solved by turning both the new iPhone AND Apple Watch off and on, which means the problem was with the new iPhone initialization process, not the app. If you have medical problems that you want any first responder to be aware of, I STRONGLY recommend this app.
Must Have App
Review - Medical ID Records iPhone App by Geoff Hackworth. This is a must have app for your iPhone. It is far superior to Apple's own Medical ID. It is FREE to use and share. Among its best features - the ability to add images, e.g. of Rx bottles and to add PDF files - e.g. Your Directive to Physicians. Link to the app is available ON the Lock Screen in case of a REAL emergency. Several widgets come with the app. You have the ability to share ALL of your medical information or any one (or more) data element. Easily update-able. A must have!! Go to Apple App store, search for Medical ID Records.
Developer Response ,
Thanks Jon for the great review. Just to be clear, the app is not free. There is a one-time purchase to download the app but it does not have subscriptions.
