Ratings and Reviews
Inconsistent
Grew up in Michigan, MSU grad and big fan. My wife and I plan to retire in Michigan in a couple of years. Like MLive for the variety of stories they cover, there’s something for everyone.
Writing skill levels are inconsistent, but I understand how difficult it is to have editors read every single clip that is posted.
Comment section is great, now that the mute feature is there. Would like to get feedback on why comments might get flagged, especially if I send an email requesting that feedback. Just because another flags a comment doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with that comment. Some moderators are trigger happy and need guidelines.
Please link a screen name with an email address. Too many people stealing screen names and throwing out trashy comments acting as another. Needs to stop.
Overall, a great idea, good product. Wish Illinois had ILive.
Horrible before, can’t tolerate it now
I’m officially deleting the app and I’m kind of sad. Here’s why. The previous version, with the swiping articles across the top, was terrible. To be a statewide news source, there were hardly any articles and you couldn’t tell the difference between statewide and local. And it pretty much consisted of all sports stories. I really only opened it when I was utterly bored.
Fast forward to your new version. I got excited the first time I used it, just so much better look and feel and more content that had more variety, to just sports. And then it happened. I clicked NEWS in the menu along the left and began to scroll. 2, 3, 4 stories down and it rolls quickly back to the top. I guessing it’s refreshing, but seriously? I can’t get further than 5 stories down and normally a lot less. I’m done. Dee. Leet.
Lots of potential, missed opportunity
Like that there’s something news-related specific to Michigan in the App Store, but this app leaves me wanting something better. Inconsistent loading/refreshing within the app. Search function is essentially useless. Aricles that I open from a notification freeze the window in the app, and you can’t back out of it. And most recently, every article that is offered within a notification I receive is behind a pay wall. I understand the need for revenue, and would happily support local news sources, but not for a product that is poorly executed. At the very least, breaking news should be available to non-subscribers. Hope it improves someday.
