Background location tracking super annoying

Mysa is a great product. App is functional and a bit of step down in experience.

The ui is just all a bit off. The controls at the top of the screen are just a bit high so that you hit the ‘back to’ link / call bar / etc navigation instead of what you intend to. The sliders in the configuration screens are too easy to slide accidentally as you try to scroll the settings page or operate other controls. Schedules work is ok but get the basics right guys.

Also, the background tracking stuff is just stupid bad. Once you allow it (to try or accidentally), the app expects to have it even when the app is not running and provides no way to turn it off. If you turn it off at iOS level, the app prompts you about it *twice* every time you try to use the app. It’s infuriatingly bad. Fix that people.

Excellent thermostats

I have baseboard heaters, and I hated my old thermostats. Now that I have Mysas in each room, I have much better control of my home temperature, better ability to monitor and control the weather in my house, and I can easily set up scenes through Homekit that modify when changes to temperature take effect throughout the day, as well as adjusting screen brightness.

I especially appreciate the ability to adjust screen brightness- to the point of flatly turning it off in my main bedroom at night. I installed smart light switches 2 years ago that glow infuriatingly brightly in the “off” position, and ended up having to put electricians tape over them so I can sleep at night. Between Mysa and Homekit, I get beautiful easy to read displays with my thermostats that do NOT illuminate my room at night because I have the ability to turn the display off completely. However, I can adjust the brightness of the Mysa displays throughout the rest of the house to create excellent little night lights. Excellent product, and I strongly recommend them!

Looks good, doesn’t work

I have used dozens of smart home devices, ranging from simple door sensors, to other thermostats, to more complicated enterprise grade systems, and I have never encountered a product as broken as the Mysa thermostat. I have been unable to connect to my new thermostat for weeks so I can not even change the display to Fahrenheit or set a schedule. I was able to pair it to HomeKit to allow me to at least set the temperature remotely but most of the device’s configuration is locked away in their completely non-functioning app. After setup, every time I select my thermostat in the app it immediately crashes. I have sent numerous emails to their tech support team with extensive details of what I’m encountering but I’ve only gotten vague responses about how they’ll forward my issue to their engineering team (or most the time, I get completely ignored). The last response I got from them is that this is a “known issue that will be addressed in a couple weeks”, which is a completely unacceptable timeline for a bug of this magnitude. Do not buy this thermostat, it looks nice but they clearly do not have the technical staff or expertise to make it work.
