What’s New

Version 3.11.1

We have made a couple of improvements in this release by fixing a list of annoying bugs and crashes, enjoy!

IMPROVEMENTS

- Command Bar Navigation: Hit CMD+Return on folders in the command bar to reveal them in the sidebar instead of opening in the command bar.
- Weekly References: Quotes will show up now in the weekly references view at the top of calendar notes. Use them to add your thoughts on your goals and weekly tasks.
- Editor Clarity: Inactive editors in split view will now show a faded title on the top left to indicate they are not active.
- Date Detection: Typing dates? Our command bar now recognizes ISO formats automatically.

FIXES

- Synced Lines and folded text: If you maintained synced lines inside the same note and some were folded "away", they stopped syncing. This is fixed now.
- System Stability: Fixed various system hangs and crashes.
- UI Consistency: "Event List" in the right sidebar will now remember to show up after a restart, and auto-complete forms will close properly when you expect them to (when typing >today).
- Time Accuracy: Improved detection of time blocks (12-1pm for example), fixed timezone mix-ups (when traveling), and more.
- Filter Fixes: From synced lines showing up correctly to ensuring events display right even with smaller fonts, as well as switching between views. Also, an empty monthly note showed up when the yearly note was part of the results.
- Interface Enhancements: Fixed the gray overlay in plugin settings and made sure filter selections work smoothly.
- Sync: Fixed creation date was reset after receiving a synced file

PLUGIN API

- Logging: We've cut down on excessive logging from plugins and enhanced logs for HTML views.
- CommandBar: Added a third "searchText" parameter to showOptions and showInputs, so you can supply a default value.

If you are happy with the app, please rate it, or even leave a review. This is a great way to support us, indie developers. Thanks a lot!

Noteplan 3 is unstoppable!

Hi there,

I recently downloaded this app and fell in love with it at first sight(or use). I have used all other productivity apps out there across both iOS and Mac, but nothing comes close to the features Noteplan provides. The ability to access and modify my notes, tasks and calendar, all in one place, cross-platform is beyond amazing! That is the foremost thing that sets Noteplan apart, in fact, a class apart from all other apps out there. They all seem to be missing one or the other feature and the closest anything has come to meeting that benchmark, is this app. I saw that people were raving about it on Twitter as well and I couldn't help but get this. I am on a free trial right now and I am set to get the paid version of the app in Sep -The fact that I am leaving a review at this stage is only indicative of the HUGE potential and brilliance of this app. I observed also, like one of the other reviewers here, that the development team is quite responsive and I really appreciate the fact. As a fan of this app, you can expect your team hearing from me with inputs and feedback along the way - I want to see this app get better and the best! There is so much potential here and I am in love with this! Thank you for your and the work of your team to make this possible! 🙏🏻😀

Perfect app for busy people!

I tested out tons of different task and note-taking apps before finding this one--what I was specifically looking for was a digital version of a bullet journal. On top of all the bullet journal functionality I was looking for, I'm discovering many other ways of staying organized. It's taking mental bandwidth I used to devote to keeping track of things and instead letting me feel like I'm on top of my work.

I'm a professor, so I juggle many hats throughout the day, as well as manage and push forward my own research projects. Anyone who has to do any kind of project management, either at home or at work, will make their life easier with this software. I used to look sideways at "productivity" apps... who has time for them? But this is absolutely making my life easier and me more productive! It somehow reaches the right balance between being simple and intuitive to use, but with lots of deep functionality if you're looking for it.

Plus, the developers are coming up with new updates all the time, and they are so kind and helpful when you reach out to them with questions.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your kind review and for taking the time to write one. I’m very glad to hear you enjoy NotePlan :)

Send NotePlan to the moon

I've recently been captivated by the "Building a Second Brain" concept, which is closely linked to the discussion around note-taking applications. I've experimented with Notion, Evernote, and Obsidian. All three are impressive applications, yet none seemed to live up to the hype for me. It's not that there's anything wrong with those applications; they just didn't engage my mind in a way that led to improvement in areas unrelated to "Personal Knowledge Management." However, NotePlan has been a revelation. I enjoy viewing my to-do list in a context that retains the references from the accompanying notes and insights that I've quickly jotted down beside each task. At night, I find peace in organizing my tasks for the following day, and the interface is so intuitive that it feels natural to drag and place tasks on the specific day (and time) I want them. This comes with the added advantage of avoiding vendor lock-in (notes are in markdown) and prioritizing local storage first. I initially opted for a monthly subscription, but I plan to switch to an annual one at the beginning of next month.
