I put a sensor on the kitchen window hoping to utilize it for both break ins through the window and a smoke alarm. Unfortunately the sensor can’t do both at the same time. If you set it to sense when the window is opened the only other additional options are leaks and room temp. I set it at room temp in hopes that would alert me to a fire in the same way the smoke alarm would.
Other than that, really easy setup and the app seems easy to use.

Thanks for your comment! I'm sorry to hear that Notion hasn't fully lived up to your expectations so far. I'd just like to take the opportunity to clarify some of the capabilities of the Notion sensor. Each sensor can detect water leaks, temperature spikes, sounding smoke alarms and doors and windows opening and closing. We say that the sensor needs to "feel" each thing in order to report on it, which means the sensor needs to be on a window in order to detect that opening and closing and it needs to be right next to an existing smoke alarm in your home to detect the sounding alarm. This is the reason for the limitation with choosing multiple tasks for each sensor.
I hope this helps! If there's any other questions that I can answer please feel free to contact our support team at Support@GetNotion.com

I was forced to use this product
First off, I didn’t want this thing but was sent anyways. Thanks, Daphne. I had no idea my whole policy hindered on using this thing. So literally, it is use this or you get your policy cancelled.
So I go to set this up - not only does it need to connect to your WiFi, which is fine.. but also you need to download a smartphone app. This app requests for you to allow them to track your location, AND allow access to your mic, camera, and photos while being cleverly packaged as this “super sensor” when all this really is is a way for this company to farm your personal information just so they can sell it all to a third party for whateveR reason and to profit of of you!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE. Why does a sensor need access to all my personal stuff? It’s all for data and for money and we just eat it up and accept it while companies like this get fatter pockets off of us normal human beings just trying to insure our homes to live . I will activate this thing just so my policy doesn’t cancel but I promise I will burn these and be removing this app shortly after. I recommend you all do the same. Thank you for reading

Please accept my sincerest apology for any confusion with your Notion smart security system as it relates to your insurance policy. Notion will only offer a discount on homeowners insurance policies, but if your payments are made through an escrow sometimes that can affect the policy if the discount is removed. Please contact your insurance carrier for specific questions related to the discount on your policy. They may also require you to keep the system online if you ever renew your policy with them.
I'd also like to address your privacy concerns. Notion will always manage your information with utmost respect. We use best-in-class encryption for data that we collect and we will never share your data outside of our organization. After the system is installed you can also revoke all app permissions and the system will continue to function normally. I'll share a few details below:
-The system requires location access to enable unique alert preferences depending on if you're at home or away. You can turn off those permissions if you choose not to take advantage of those features.
-We use the camera on your phone only to scan the QR code on each sensor during the set up process. You can revoke that permission after the set up process as well.
-We do not require permission to access to microphone on your device. If the Notion app mentioned that at all then you can revoke that permission after the set up process.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions please respond at support@GetNotion.com. Our team will be happy to help out with anything else there.

I got this for free as part of my home insurance. The sensors and bridge were easy to set up and were up and running right away. Great concept, I thought. I have one of the sensors on my front door. Unfortunately, it incorrectly alerts me that my door has been opened. I'll be sitting in my living room looking at the closed door and receive a notification that the door just opened. Thankfully I realized this over the weekend and knew to pay it no mind. Imagine the horror if I had been at work the first time I received this erroneous notification. I tried calibrating it like the manual recommended, but it does not seem to be learning anything. I live alone and it's midnight right now. I'm in bed. Just received a notification that my front door has been opened...
