Description

Parsnip is THE destination for learning to cook. On Parsnip, complex cooking expertise is broken down into quick, bite-size quizzes. All you have to do is play, learn the dishes that interest you, skip what doesn’t, and you’ll cook like a chef before you know it. From your morning coffee to waiting in line at the grocery store, Parsnip helps you level up your cooking skills.

Inside, you’ll find more than 50 levels that challenge your cooking ability across 5 categories: ingredients, shopping, prepping, making, and techniques. For every level you complete, earn stars toward your Star Count. The more you play, the better you and the app can analyze your strengths and weaknesses. Complete every level and cook all the dishes!

Get in on the ground floor. We are just getting started We are always adding more dishes and levels. Let us know the dishes you want to see in app. We can’t make any promises, but dishes that get love tend to jump to the front of the line.

Game changer for college freshman

This app has quickly become my favorite thing on my phone. I am a freshman in college, living in a dorm with a personal kitchen. And I can’t cook. My roommates can manage their own meals, but I had a meal plan this last semester. Over winter break I found Parsnip and it is a game changer. I really don’t know the slightest thing about cooking. I love how this app takes you step by step through shopping for ingredients to how to handle utensils and tools. I feel more confident in the kitchen than ever before. I’m looking forward to seeing more recipes added, I hope I can contribute some of my family’s favorites! I love that this app does not have any features you have to pay for. I don’t have time to balance my heavy school work and a job, so this app being free is going to continue to serve me for many months and hopefully years to come. Thank you for this great app, I cannot recommend it enough.

Makes me more excited about cooking!

For someone who’s been cooking for years, it’s really been helpful to know the terminology for everything that I’ve been doing. For me, I use the recipes as a baseline and I normally change things up to my liking. But if you are someone new to cooking I recommend following the instructions until you get the hang of things. It definitely got me more excited about cooking recently because of the game aspect. The streak is nice but I do mainly use it for additional recipe ideas and proper term usage. I do enjoy that you can pick recipes based on vegan, dairy free, vegetarian, quick, etc.

That’s so cool we could finally put names to those techniques you’ve been using all along!

We really appreciate your review and are excited for you to try a lot more recipes coming soon 👀

okay but not the best

my biggest issue with the app is the streak system: changing ur time zone at all entirely resets ur streak. the first time this happened I was upset but thought maybe I just did miss a day but it happened again a week later when I flew back home
secondly while the lessons r nice and cohesive they certainly don’t cover everything. sometimes the questions and possible answers given r misleading. i also wish there was a way to see the explanation for the wrong answers without actually having to get it wrong. i find the explanations helpful but if I want to see every different explanation i have to get the question wrong even if I know the answer. also, for questions where multiple options r correct, i would love for there to be an actual explanation to go with it
other than that this game is a rlly easy and nice way to pick up new cooking information that I do daily like duolingo

Developer Response ,

Hey there, we really appreciate all your feedback. We’re so sorry that your streak was lost, we will look into fixing that so it stops causing frustration.

You bring up a great point about the explanations on wrong answers, and we are actively working on a solution that will allow you to view all those extra tidbits of knowledge without having to play the level again.

All your criticisms are totally valid and have been discussed internally. If you have any more feedback or suggestions, please join out Discord and let us know! discord.gg/EWSffyxQ
