Basics only

It tells you your outlet has power, it counts main pump cycles and length of cycle in seconds. It is lacking alerts to your phone, it is missing the ability to threshold alert to phone or email. Example; if my pump runs more than X times in a hour, alert me! If the pump is running a cycle longer than x seconds alert me! Both those situations like today when it happened, mean my external discharge line has frozen solid. The second outlet is not monitored, which is fine. It can’t sense and log power draw in watts during a cycle like my Sense home energy monitor. I guess I should try to buy the add on monitoring for my battery backup, but it was way more expensive than PumpSpy. Last complaint, the unit makes noise. Sounds like a capacitor or rectifier whine or hiss, hopefully this isn’t unique to mine meaning it is about to die.

Hi there, thank you so much for your review and feedback. We would like to hear more about your specific app feedback to see how we can improve user experience, so please do reach out to us at support@pumpspy.com. Further, if you have a potential hardware complication with your monitoring device, we absolutely want to look at the warranty detail and see if we can get you another if it's causing you trouble.

New version Works Great !

Update: the new app version fixes the previous bugs and adds back the pump cycle log. I knew the developers would get this fixed quickly. I highly recommend their products. They have saved my house from flooding and give me Great peace of mind knowing everything is working and will continue even during a power outage. This is the company to buy from.

————————————————————————-
I called tech support, Because I could No longer log in with this new version. The original version on another device works just fine. They did a manual password reset and I also needed to reboot my phone to get it to work again. The new version also removed the cycle history. The tech support guy said they are working on restoring that feature. So for now best not to update. Needless to say I still highly recommend their products, the product has notified me of “my” pump problems and has prevented flooding during power outages. Their tech support is Great. I know they will fix the app issue. I will continue to buy and promote their products because they do work well.

Hey thank you for the support at a time where many of our customers did not love our app and how it was functioning. We are very much hoping your faith can be rewarded now with our newest release!

This piece of feedback was shared by many of our users and is among the key new features back with our newest version. Along with smoother login and provisioning, we brought back historical cycle data as it turns out that was the feature our users loved most! We really hope you love version 1.2.3 better as it may be our best version yet.

App Completely Unreliable

I purchased the PumpSpy device in January of this year (2022). Initial setup with the app was pretty straightforward and the app worked well until the update that was released in spring. The app logged me out and I could not log back in, received “Unknown Error” repeatedly (this experience was shared by many users from what I have read online). I tried the tricks posted online such as resetting my password, deleting and reinstalling the app, restarting my iPhone, to no avail. I finally emailed customer support on 09-Jun, and received a “message received” confirmation, but that was it. No one ever responded to my inquiry. So, ultimately a new app update was released recently, and voila, I could again log in and everything was fine. And then sometime within the last 2 weeks, I’m again logged out and having the exact same issues. Can’t log in, “Unknown Error” repeatedly. Tried all the tricks again, nothing. I called customer service today and was directed to voicemail. It’s absurd. If you’re thinking about buying one of these pump monitors, don’t. The app is so unreliable that it renders the device useless.

Developer Response ,

What a bad time to hear about. Our customer service is a small operation, and so the voicemail usually comes up outside of business hours, but that said, we should return your call or help you get back in. We are working on longer-term fixes for some of the items you've described but have some much simpler ways through them now. I'd love to have some more dialogue on your personal experiences if you can email support@pumpspy.com and title your email subject "app store one star rating", as that will come straight to me. We'll get you in and sorted again, but further we want to learn as much as we can from your experience to continue building the best app for our users.
