The App I’ve Been DYING for

Okay yall, thought this would be too good to be true but this app is immaculate. I’m floored by how well it works for self taping. The readers that are already loaded in don’t sound like an ai robot at all and are so easy to work with. There’s a tiny flaw in the voice recognition, sometimes if I take too long of a pause in my line it’ll skip me but I was able to just adjust my timing a bit to work around this.

My only note is that I wish the view of the camera frame while you are taping was true to the final frame (it’s much more punched in while taping) but again something that can be worked around with a little troubleshooting.

The subscription price is in line with those of other websites actors use daily, so I think it’s well worth it. I will absolutely be using this app over and over and over again.

I want to give 5 stars but can’t…

This app WOULD deserve 5 stars if it allowed for some customization. I love how well it works, it’s definitely better than any other self tape reader app I’ve tried. But it should not cost you more tokens to adjust your lines or to customize the reader’s voices. Especially when you CANNOT listen to a preview of the reader’s speaking your lines before you it charges you for a token. I unfortunately used up all 3 of my initial tokens trying to get the perfect voices for a scene and sadly by the 3rd try it still wasn’t satisfactory. This really makes no sense to me and considering that even paying for a subscription gives you such a small number of tokens, I don’t know if it’s worth it. Especially when it might take you 5 or 6 tokens just to customize the voices in a way that works for your scene. Otherwise this app is incredible and would be a total game changer. I’d happily purchase a subscription if customizations were allowed. And I’d recommend to all my acting friends who I’m positive would also love. But for now, this is just not it.

App Glitches Cannot Happen During An Important Audition Time

Greetings! I bought this app a week ago to read for a new series for an important Co-Star role. I must say I was extremely impressed with this app and figured now I don’t need to hire a reader anymore for a self tape audition anymore and said, “Yey!!!” Fats forward I received an audition for a Spectrum Commercial where I needed to read one take in English and one in Spanish. When I switched over to the Spanish reading the app malfunctioned on me not reading half of the script in Spanish. This cannot happen on the future if the Rafy App is to be successful and reliable in moments like these. I had to read the rest of the scene without any lines and hopefully the Casting Director won’t think anything of it. It failed on me. I have to rate this app a 3 starts out of 10 stars. Please creators of
this app please fix this it just cannot happen last minute for vital and important auditions. If not we Actors must rely on live readers where there is a guarantee of no malfunctions.

We’re sorry the app didn’t perform as expected during your Spanish audition, and we would like to understand why that could be. For clarity, replies are designed to trigger only when speech recognition or the manual timer is enabled. Without one of those settings active, the app won’t cue its responses which may explain the issue you encountered. The speech recognition needs to be set to the language of the script when you set up the scene for the app to be able to understand and cue the replies.
