I like being able to see my temps and knowing how close I am to target temp. But when I hit target temp, I just get a notification in my phone saying it’s done with a little beep. I wish it could access the phones sounds, so it could almost be an alarm. Because even the timer just says “Done”. I have to set up the timer on my phone itself to let me know when recteq timer is done in case I am not staring at my phone. I don’t stare at my phone constantly to monitor temps and times. So an actual timer alarm and target temp alarm would be great
Finally works pretty well
My fingers are crossed but so far they finally got the app usable. Past experience was every time they issued an update, it killed the ability to send notifications, which is the point of using the app. One huge improvement they could offer is to add a function to start the grill at a preset time. This would be a huge advantage to cooking briskets and Boston butts where I have to get up in the middle of the night to start the 12-14 hour low/slow cook to have it ready when the guests arrive at 6 PM. Obviously you couldn’t use this in the heat of summer but when the outside temperature is almost as cool as the refrigerator it would be a great advantage.
Very, very good
I love the precision Recteq offers. Being able to mail the temp settings inspires a lot of confidence. Everything I’ve cooked thus far has been excellent, and the small heating time (and the cooling off after it’s done) is a real plus.
The only faults I find involve cosmetics and maintenance. It would be great if the construction tolerances were a little tighter so less of the exterior showed smoke stains. Also, ideally there would be a better way of exchanging one type of pellets for another. Emptying the hopper - other than burning through pellets - is nearly impossible.
Even so, having owned various grills, I’d buy this one over and over.
