We set out to build Rootd after suffering from panic attacks and anxiety for several years. The only help resources we could find were either too expensive, ineffective, or poorly designed. Our mission is to help others overcome their panic and anxiety, and to end the stigma against those affected.

We're working to make anxiety & panic attack relief as accessible and supportive as possible as we evolve through these extraordinary times. In this update we are excited to introduce the brand new Rootd Journal tool!
Designed for self-guided reflection and strength building, our new journal tool encourages you to identify your moods, observe how you are feeling in the wake of powerful moments, help you better understand your habits, and identify subconscious triggers of anxiety and panic attacks. Our journal tool also encourages you to track your successes so that you can learn to recognize and focus on your strengths, and not your weaknesses! To try out the new journal tool yourself, simply look for the icon in the top right of the My Journey home page.
In addition to the journal tool we are adding in two new languages: Spanish and Mandarin. So we can now say welcome, bem-vinda, bienvenu, witamy, bienvenidos, AND huānyíng to all new and returning Rootd users.

Good the first few times
I have panic attacks semi consistently so every couple days to up to 7 in one day. One time I really wanted some help with it of them and found this app. (I can’t get medical help at this moment sadly) I conscientiously used this app for the first time during one of my worst attacks lasting more than an hour and just being able to listen to the facts helped. I like how when using it during an actual panic attack it is really easy to just continue with just one button to press. It helped a lot at first but slowly the effect of telling the facts did nothing for me. There are not too many and they get old after a while. I find myself just not believing them at all now. I wish there was a little more that could help someone during a panic attack. I tried to then use it to just keep track of the panic attacks but it seems like it doesn’t count the panic attack if you go through it semi quickly. I think this is to stop people from farming them and being able to brag about getting through however many panic attacks but that’s not really a thing that someone would do with something like this. There are some features that cost money but something like this doesn’t seem like it should but I’m ok that they are there because it is a whole lot better than an add popping up when you are suffering.
UPDATE: an update just came out and have seemed to fix the issue of some panic attacks not being recorded.

Awesome Potential, Needs more features
I suffer from Panic Disorder, and I have been having terrible panic attacks on a daily basis more recently. I needed something that could help me on a whim, and found out about this app through Reddit. This is such a great, cute, encouraging app. It really does help me feel “rooted” to read through all the facts if I catch myself early enough. However, my panic attacks are severe and last for several hours. I would like to see something that you can do for a long term, not just repeating facts you already know. Breathing exercises, a soothing mini game game, or even option to journal would be helpful for those hour long attacks. Something to keep your mind busy and distracted. I wish you didn’t have to pay for the extra features. Anything with mental health should be free, all though I get it’s still a business. Great app though! I’ve used it so much lately. I’ve survived four panic attacks and have 33 warrior points already!

Lately we have added the Breathr tool and a body scan/nature sound tool called the Visualizr. Have you had a chance to try these out? We'll definitely consider adding other tools in as well, but we are a very small team (currently 2 people) and don't have the resources to add everything we please at the moment.

I downloaded this app three days ago in the midst of a panic attack. I used the rootr button and went through the prompts a few times until I felt a bit calmer. There is not much that can help me when I’m in the middle of a panic attack as badly as that one, so the fact that it brought me even a little but ofpeace helped. It was especially helpful to be reminded that I have survived every other panic attack, something that is easy to overlook in the midst of one! I also love the journal feature, it makes it easy to keep track of my panic attacks and also look at the good aspects of my day as well. Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, I don’t have the means of upgrading to the premium version but I would definitely look into that if my situation was different. The developers definitely deserve it. The only suggestion I have is to add a few more helpful reminders while using the rootr button. I went through it three times before I felt calm and the sayings started to lose the effect after the first time. Other than that, great app!
