Securely connect people, workloads, and even AI agents to anything on the internet with Tailscale, the secure connectivity platform built on WireGuard®. Tailscale brings identity to the network layer so you can control access based on users, groups, tags, and devices instead of IP addresses, applying Zero Trust principles end-to-end across every environment.
Tailscale transforms your existing network from a legacy hub and spoke model to a modern, lightweight, and responsive mesh networking architecture that eliminates single points of failure and delivers better performance, scalability, and security for your end users, devices, and remote resources.
Tailscale can be used for your Homelab VPN and connectivity, Business VPN, Workload Connectivity across clouds, Kubernetes clusters, regions, and environments, Privileged Access Management (PAM), Edge & IoT, CI/CD, and Securing AI – all on the same platform.
Replace legacy VPNs, connect workloads across on-prem and cloud infrastructure providers, power Zero Trust initiatives, and make remote access secure by simplifying software-defined networking and security operations. Modernize your home, your organization, and your enterprise networking at scale with Tailscale.
Tailscale is hardware-agnostic, so you can make decisions about your hardware independently from decisions about your network. Tailscale creates an overlay network, using your existing network, so you can incrementally deploy Tailscale without needing new network switches or to change your network architecture.
Tailscale integrates with 100+ technologies and dozens of identity providers, and is available on a wide range of platforms — including Apple’s macOS, iOS, and tvOS — so you can securely connect from wherever you work.
Getting better, but battery life is still a HUGE issue
Yebo29
App has definitely gotten better with updates and so I’m thankful for that. Not that long ago I had to force quit the app a few times to finally get it to connect and not give me re-auth errors. However, battery life and management is still a very very big deterrent to using this how I originally wanted to, which is always-on, using my pi-hole server for DNS and ad blocking. I’m following the issue in GitHub. Please please fix! Many users seeing the same thing and providing dumps. If you guys can get the battery usage under control then the app will be UNSTOPPABLE.
Simplified my personal workflow tremendously.

Tailscale has become an absolute game-changer for my workflow. I rely on Remote Desktop for Windows-based tasks, but my Wi-Fi in certain locations is barely functional. With Tailscale, that limitation disappears. I can put one device on cellular, keep my main machine on home Wi-Fi, and Tailscale stitches everything together through its own encrypted mesh network.Because it builds a secure WireGuard-based overlay, every device feels like it's on the same LAN—even when they're on completely different networks. As long as my devices are online, Tailscale maintains the connection flawlessly. No port-forwarding, no VPN servers to babysit, no weird NAT issues. It just works, and it's shockingly reliable. The flexibility is enormous: remote access, file transfers, RDP, SSH, ad-hoc services, subnet routing, exit nodes—you name it. Once you start using Tailscale, the number of things you can do with it feels practically limitless.
Didn’t work for my pihole
Logical Dad
tl;dr - if using for pihole ad blocking outside of home network, just install AdGuard DNS profile to your iOS device(s). Way easier, no need for an extra app, blocks ads. Idk why I tried complicating something that has worked for me for years and years. Followed kb instructions to a T. I’m not new to things like this. Installed tailscale on my headless pihole (went the the url at the end of setup too), opened pihole to outside traffic, changed the tailscale DNS settings to point to my pihole IP address, added the VPN profile to my phone. According to the documentation everything should’ve worked. Both my iPhone and pihole showed in the settings. Zero ads blocked. I have 3 separate domain blocking lists configured on my pihole.
Fantastic!

This saves me a ton of hassle. This allows me to access WhatsApp while on work Wi-Fi by routing through my home network. I’m also able to benefit from my Pihole server as a result. I tried a diy wireguard setup and just couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. This was super easy to setup and performance seems great. One nice feature to add would be the ability to have a timer set so that I disconnect from the vpn automatically by a certain time. I sometimes forget to disconnect and this can cause issues when I’m moving between Wi-Fi and cell data.
Fixed: An issue that could cause the network extension to encounter an out of memory condition on large tailnets is resolved.
