Trimlight 4+

This is a review of just the app, as the lights would be 5 stars.

The app is pretty good and user friendly for the most part. I like all the preset options. Couple things I would fix...

1. I can’t connect using my own network. Nearly impossible to find it. I need to connect to the built in WiFi which is less convenient.
2. The calendar is a bit confusing, as it’s not set up like the actual month with 7 days in 1 row. I have to go back and forth to my phones calendar to get the right date.

And some things I would like to see added...

1. You can save the presets, but not modify. I would love to be able to modify them to change the colors of my choosing since not all presets can be custom made.
2. I would like the lights to be integrated with music. For the price of system, I would think this would be something that could be possible.
3. Being able to set lights when away from home. Not as often when gone, but sometimes the WiFi doesn’t reach the road when changing lights.
4. More saved patterns. I maxed mine out after only 1 holiday as I like to save numerous different patterns each holiday.
5. Combining numerous patterns to cycle through and adding more patterns. Twinkle for one would be great.
6. Being able to share patterns with other clients. Or even a forum where others can share their exact setup if you really like one of theirs.

Supposedly there’s an update coming that will allow users to control each individual bulb. I truly hope this is available soon as we just spent several thousand dollars on lights that can’t do what we primarily purchased them for. It’s a bummer too that the new control panel (also supposedly coming out soon) which allows for control remotely away from home, will not be a free upgrade with the current box which requires being at home and in range of our WiFi. Agree with a lot of other reviewers. Limited on what is available in the app. If you want all the lights on, and not a few on with dark space in between, then these work fine. We got lights with the intention using accent lighting through most of the year. Since we can only control black space between the bulbs in a specific sequence, the accent is off balance across our home and doesn’t match. We will have a couple of lights on at the very top of our peak on one side, then running down the left or right of a separate peak on another side.

Oh yeah, another review reminded me of this also, a dawn/dusk setting would be amazing!!!!!!!! That way I don’t have to continually set my schedule throughout the year as the days become longer/shorter.

The lights themselves work great. They’re bright and all the colors look good. The software needs some help though. Often my phone can’t connect to the control box. The control box is connected to Wi-Fi yet you can’t connect to it when you’re away from your home (in other words: no connecting to it over the internet). Yes you can program the lights but the programming system needs some work. Also, I’d like to see some more modes such as “random” or “twinkle”. Also I’d like to be able to have a mode where I can sync the lights to a song I play on my phone or iPad.
