Simply dial with WhatCall and the person you dial will receive an instant missed call from your number, while you are directed straight to their voicemail without ringing and any possibility of them answering your call.
WhatCall helps you avoid returning or making a call when you don't really want to speak to someone, but gives you the excuse and proof that you tried!
With WhatCall they'll even receive a missed call text message from their network if it supports that feature!
WhatCall works in every country and on most networks that have a voicemail including landline and mobile. It automatically figures out all the dialling codes so you can go ahead and dial in the same local format you use on your iPhone (See screenshot examples for US, UK and Japan).
Examples of where WhatCall is useful:
- Calling in sick to work but don't want to speak to your boss and answer lots of awkward questions. With WhatCall your boss with think you tried calling them while you can leave a voicemail letting them know you won't be in to work.
- Returning a call to a friend or partner when you're busy and don't have time to speak to them. WhatCall will connect you straight to voicemail allowing you to leave a message without spending precious time getting drawn into a conversation.
- Leaving a message for someone you know is unable to answer the phone (eg. in a meeting or putting a baby to sleep) but may have forgotten to turn off their phone. WhatCall will direct your phone calls to their voicemail without ringing and disturbing them.
- Leaving an important message for someone when you don't have time for a full conversation or to type out a long SMS message, use WhatCall and dial direct to voicemail instead.

The app has worked great for me, I got it about two weeks ago, and had seen the mix of good and bad reviews, and figured I would take a gamble. I have not used it much, but in each case it has put me straight through to the persons voicemail, and I could leave a message acting like I am sorry I didn't reach you today, but why don't I leave a message,.....
“WhatCall” is a piece of garbage!
I noticed there’s only five reviews on this app. All five reviews gave it “five stars.” I imagine those stars cane from the owners/developers of the app. I can tell you THIS IS THE WORST APP I’VE EVER BOUGHT! I really wanted to leave my brother an important message but I really didn’t have the time or desire to get into a discussion with him. I just wanted to leave a quick two minute message and be done with my day. So I bought, “WhatCall.” I called my brother. It went directly to his voicemail and I began to leave my message. A few seconds into leaving my message, my brother picks up the phone and says, “Hey Dave, it’s about time you called, I’ve been waiting for your message.” Then of course I had to speak with him. When my brother picked the phone up he mentioned, “that was really weird, the phone didn’t ring but my phone vibrated and lite-up.” So no, his phone didn’t ring but it did everything else so he would answer. Sounds like these kids over at, “WhatCall” have a long way to go as their app DOES NOT WORK! I’m sure they thought, “we’ll develop an app and sell it for a dollar and all we need to do is sell a million of them and we’ll be millionaires!” Sorry guys- it doesn’t work that way!!!
Developer Response ,
I'm sorry you experienced trouble, but it's not technically possible for your bother to have picked up while you were leaving a voicemail unless it was a landline? If it was a landline then it is called call screening and there is no way around that because that's how landline answer machines work.
With regards to our reviews, they are all genuine, as Apple constantly check and remove any fake reviews, checking activity on those accounts and IP address.
That said, we had some other connection issues with a new provider we used as a backup which we made essential upgrades to increase capacity. Our upgrades are complete and everything should be back to normal. Feel free to send us an email from the App and we can refund you any used credits.
Finally with regards to your 'million dollars' comment, it is extremely hard, time consuming and expensive to run a service like this. Apple actively remove apps that don't work or are fake, so 'tricking people' does not work! I promise you WhatCall does work and the great review illustrate that.
Waste of money!!
Really disappointed with this app. I purchased this app after returning from vacation to 13 voicemails on my work line. I thought this app would be great to call people back and give a quick response rather than having to chat with 13 different people. The first call was great, straight to voicemail. However, the second and third calls someone answered the phone. Not only did it waste credits for a call that did not go straight to voicemail the fourth call wouldn’t let me leave a voicemail. It cut me off mid voicemail and kept asking me to re record and start recording where I left off. Total waste of money. I’m glad I decided to try the app before purchasing a bunch of credits.
