@tanisacolor ,

This is really a Ghost Rider disguised as an AI product, and it actually saves you time.

I know that there are thousands of AI products that launch every single week, but this one is a must-have because it is a subtle app that basically does audio-to-text. What you are going to find, surprisingly, is it's just a really new way to interact with your iOS device, because you'll find yourself just speaking to your phone through this keyboard.

Not only is it faster (saving you time), but it really understands the context of where you're speaking to through your keyboard, whether that's over a text or a message or Instagram or an email or journaling. It's just so easy and it's so great at getting the spellings right, especially with unique names and so on. You could spell it out and it won't transcribe it word-for-word, but it will get the context and just update it.

So long story short, this is more of a ghostwriter disguised as an AI product.

I love this thing, but make me a full keyboard

It’s kinda crazy how good this thing is. Not just dictation, but it cleans up my speech, takes out filler like “um” and “uh”, and actually rewrites stuff in a way that makes sense. I was listing things out like “one this, two that, three whatever” and it turned it into a clean numbered list. Legit impressive.

That said, I really wish there was a full keyboard experience to go with it. Right now it feels like a feature looking for a home. If this had a real, default keyboard I could actually use all day, I’d switch in a second. Hope that’s on the roadmap, because the core tech is already kind of insane.

Issues but Good

OK, so the first thing to understand is that this is basically just sending your dictation to a large language model somewhere in the cloud and producing more intelligent dictation than the onboard that Apple uses. That’s great fine love it. It’s a bit overpriced for that. Actually kind of a lot overpriced for that but the free tier is fine.

Unfortunately, there is a significant issue. Because of the way that Apple’s API for keyboards works…. (I assume it’s apple‘s fault… But not sure) the iPhone may sleep the app you have open or even lock the screen while you were dictating because you were not touching the phone.

Frustrating otherwise it would be worth it just for the custom dictionary alone… I am a writer, and there are a lot of names in my stories that are not spelled normally or are weird and some fashion, and adding them to the dictionary, makes this work nearly perfectly.

But I stopped using it after about 20 tries because on three occasions it lost the entire section. I dictated due to the app falling asleep because of inactivity while I was dictating. I think there is a way to let it continue to listen, but I think going into the sleep transition would break it anyway maybe I’m wrong.

I look forward to a response from the developers… They have a good thing going here..
