Zirtue is a private secure lending app that allows you to leverage your personal relationships instead of your personal credit score to lend and borrow money.

Zirtue allows users to lend and borrow as little as $20 and as much as $1,000 with payback periods from 3 months to 36 months. Zirtue also allows for one time payments, where you can set a specific date to be paid back any time between 3 months and 3 years from now.
There are no fees to use Zirtue. However, there is a 5% interest rate (APR) is sent to the lender over the life of the loan

Reaching people most apps won’t.
This is my second time borrowing through Zirtue, and with good reason. Aside from the fact that it allows borrowers like me to be transparent with the need with actual PEOPLE, and not some lender-bot AI, the system itself is designed to access banks that lender-bot apps won’t (through Plaid’s ability to input account info manually). Having been a Zirtue customer, and being a seasonal worker (school bus driver), Zirtue has allowed me to borrow in times where I’ve needed it, be it for hard times over not-so-busy summer break, or in the most recent case, Thanksgiving break catching up with me. Thank you to the Zirtue team for giving the handshake loan more accountability.
So far so good
I just downloaded the app to cover the situation of having to lend money to a friend in the future. I reached out to customer service email to ask a couple additional questions that I was curious about and got a response within a few minutes. That is excellent! I also like that they go through Plaid for bank information keep my account secure. I’ll update this review when it’s time for me to lend some money

Not ready for prime time
It took me and a friend much too long to successfully do a loan on here they didn’t respond to multiple requests for help.
First, they try to verify bank accounts with Plaid, which is currently not working for my major US bank. Plaid had to help me figure out a workaround, Zirtue didn’t respond to my questions.
Then when I tried to accept her loan request, I kept getting the same generic error that didn’t make sense.
All in all, I emailed them 3 times, got 0 answers, and it took 5 days to get the bank accounts linked (1 day) and get the loan made (4 days). Meanwhile the car my friend was trying to buy got sold to someone else.
They emailed today asking me to review the app but there was no link in the “Review the app” text and no other link to review it. That’s really the app in a nutshell. That made me annoyed enough to open the App Store and leave a review.
Potential but expect it might be messy. Not ready for prime time—and if they answered emails I would be a lot less irritated by that.
