What really won me over Google Photos is the “High quality (free unlimited storage)” feature, which allowed me to upload all my photos from as far back as I had saved on my PC, and be able to access these on any of my devices. Allowing all my iPhone Camera Roll photos to upload too is great, as my photos are always backed up and saved. With the high quality unlimited storage option, there is a small amount of compression (T’s & C’s apply), but isn’t noticeable by someone like myself who captures moments from my phone’s camera. All-in-all, a thumbs up and recommend from me.

Despite being a purely digital experience, which can be cold and impersonal, this app manages to offer such a good service that it ends up earning my affection as well as my recognition of its technical achievements.Marmite on hot toast, like most comfort food, is about the emotional experience as much the taste. The same is true of photos, and this app gets the mix right. Maybe the Google Photos algorithm has seen our pictures and will one day awaken to a kind of life, powered mostly by the weird mix of emotional images we have fed it.

This app does an excellent job downloading your photos in specified folders (in addition, the mac app also imports and categorises all your Aperture/iPhoto/Photos libraries and your local photos!).It generates auto-albums based on time and location, this is a great feature. It can also make a movie of existing movie fragments or photos.A great benefit of the Google Photos as a cloud service is that any photos uploaded to your gdrive in high resolution (but not full resolution) will not count towards your drive capacity. So basically, anything you put there is free.

The free Cloud storage is very attractive feature. Backing up of photos and access across multiple devices also cool. The "This day X years ago" always brings smiles and the assistant puts together some great video, album and photo modification picture suggestions. Very easy to share albums with others as well. Overall really good, including ease of use. Must have good wi-fi or lots of data as data use is heavy.
