Why do you need my date of birth?
Great service, works really well. Came back from holiday and used it to get in a few essential supplies to tide us over the first day or two. Ideal for that.
My one beef is being asked for my date of birth to verify that I’m of a legal age to buy alcohol, and for that information to be recorded on an electronic handset. Firstly, I’m in my mid-50s - and look it. But more importantly, this information was asked of me without any clarification about how this information will be used. I initially declined but the rider said he couldn’t hand over my groceries if I didn’t provide it. If I get a promotional email around the time of my birthday I’ll be very annoyed.
Other delivery firms require proof of ID on the doorstep if the recipient doesn’t look old enough. That seems a common sense approach, rather than asking users to hand over their personal data for some undisclosed purpose. It appears to me to be in breach of the General Data Protection Regulations, and I’ll be taking it up with the Office of the Information Commissioner.
Worst food delivery service ever
Do yourself a favor and avoid Chop Chop at all costs. There are numerous choices out there for rapid food delivery services out there, and you would be better off choosing them (Tesco Whoosh, Ubereats, Weezy etc) over Sainsbury’s. The delivery was well over 2 hours so not in the 60 min claim they advertise, and no updates are provided until the app as to why. Fortunately, a local Sainsbury’s shop employee had phoned me from her mobile about some substitutes so I had a number to call since the customer service number on this app is completely useless and unreachable. She informed me that the driver had turned up and cancelled due to the size of the order being too heavy. Not sure who the ‘trusted delivery partner’ is that Sainsbury’s have chosen but they are clearly incompetent. So my grocery order had just been sitting (I had ordered meat and food that would’ve gone off) while they waited for a driver and there was no way to tell when it would’ve been picked up as the food was sitting out spoiling. I attempted to get through to the app customer service who did not pickup despite a 30min hold so I couldn’t even cancel the order and there is no way to do so via the app. Avoid Chop Chop at all costs! Horrible app and customer service.
My order didn’t show
Right okay so I’m a uni student, so as you can imagine, especially in these times, money is tight, so me and my flat mates were isolating (because what do you expect when you move thousands of different people to different parts of the country) and we were running out of options of how to buy food. So we use this chop chop app, so it says 1 hour yeah? Nope, the food was ESTIMATED at 8 (we ordered at 4) and it said it was delivered at 8, however, the food did not show. So, I continued to call them but no one answered (I had been calling since 6pm, 2 hours after the order) and I honestly don’t think any body works there bc that phone kept ringing and ringing, and obviously no one answered. So I settle down, whatever, let it go, try again tomorrow. So I ring the day after right and guess what they say! “The best we can do is a refund” are you joking? So I have no waited 24hrs for this food and I’m not even going to get it?! So, then they give in and replace the order. But, when it arrives, half of the order is missing! Honestly don’t waste your time with this app, save yourself and call Uber eats or smth bc it’s a joke! (Also all of the prices go up on this app so everything’s like £2 more) the audacity.
