Complain to Attorney General

I confirmed with two different Ai Search Engines that Zmodo / Funlux NVR users are getting locked out of being able to use the phone app to view their cams because of the way the obnoxious adware is working. EVERYONE needs to complain to the Department of Consumer Affairs at their own State’s Attorney General web site. Then they need to complain to the Consumer Affairs at California and also Federal about the “Bait and Switch that Zmodo, Funlux, MeShare has pulled on NVR users to try to force us to paid cloud subscription or to switch out an entire NVR system to another provider when ours works fine except Zmodo is locking us out.

Hi, AI is not a particularly good source of information and will often agree with whatever you're asking about. You should still be able to access devices normally post-ads, but if you're having trouble please make sure your app is fully updated, try reinstalling it, or otherwise reach out via support@funlux.com and we'd be happy to see what we can do to help.

August 2026 update added loud ad before the app starts, and then pics of scantily clad women at the bottom of the camera selection home page. I’m very sorry I updated.Sept 2026. Changed from a 1 star to a 3. I reacted to the new forced ad to get to the camera view up. Still don’t like it, but the camera view usually works. Occasionally the live view drops from 8 cameras to less or even none. Restarting the main box several times often adds some cameras back and sometimes they all come back. The time and date is almost always wrong. I suspect it is the main recording box not the app but who knows. I plugged it into a kasa WiFi switch so I can reset as often as I want from anywhere. So, bottom line, the app ads are annoying, the camera control box is more likely the main failure point, not the app. And yes, I guess the app people need more revenue to keep it working.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We understand that ads can be a change to your experience. To continue providing high-quality security features and maintain our cloud infrastructure without increasing subscription costs, we are exploring new ways to support our development team.We are actively monitoring how these ads impact usability. If you have specific suggestions on how we can make them less intrusive, please reach out to us at support@funlux.com so we can share your thoughts with our product team.Regarding scantily clad women at the bottom of the home page, are you sure they're not fully dressed? We've had several contacts of confusion from the image being small and people at a glance assuming it is inappropriate, but each time it's actually just been fully covered women where the dresses were vaguely skin color and at a glance it was assumed that was their bare skin. If not, please send us a screenshot so we may report, but based on previous confusion I suspect that may be the case here. Edit: Please reach out to the email above and we'd be happy to assist with your NVR. If it can't hold the time and date, it's CMOS battery may need replaced which is just a coin battery similar to what you may find in a watch.

This app was great years ago. Within the last few years, the notifications for detecting motion have been declining. There have been instances of it not even recording when someone is literally right in front of the camera, it didn’t give us notifications of deer outside - which is bad bc deer are big enough, and sometimes it won’t even notify us of things as big as cars out front! But it will give us notifications of little bugs flying around and the light change at dusk and dawn…bc that’s what we all want right? It’s not our cameras…we have more than 5 that all work fine, and I’ve tested whether it’s the camera or app and it’s definitely the app. This is absolutely unacceptable as this is basically security that people and families rely upon for safety and comfort. Unless something changes immediately, I’ll be looking elsewhere for something more reliable.

I reviewed this app and their associated hardware at a 1 star rating about 6 months ago. The company replaced one faulty camera and after the firmware patch I feel a 5 star rating is warranted. I no longer have connectivity issues and if I reset my WiFi network the cameras automatically recognize and reconnect to the network. This company has made significant improvements to their product and if you were frustrated like I was and moved away from them, I’d try it out again and see that there is real value at this price. My only criticism is that I wish they had a viable battery operated camera that could compete with other fully wireless cameras like arlo.
