It's not often we stumble across an app that has the potential to dramatically transform your workflow. But with Shapr 3D, there’s no need for a desk, a mouse, or a keyboard. With your iPad and Apple Pencil, you can design complex 3D models. The ability to work offline means you’ll be able to sketch and design from anywhere.
Extremely Powerful and Easy to Use

This is by far the best and most useful application I have on my iPad. I’ve used it for the past two years and it has been instrumental in many designs, from a full house remodel to shop projects and furniture design. I modeled my entire house in this app and iterated over a number of designs before settling on the one taken to the architect. This saved me thousands of dollars on iterations with the architect. During the remodel process I used it to imagine everything including layout, fixtures, countertops, moulding, cabinet hardware, furniture placement, and color selections. The entire house model including all the aforementioned details fit in one model on my iPad Pro! The software was capable enough that I was able to model everything in extreme detail, including cabinet handles and cabinet cross sections. This was amazingly useful while interacting with contractors who appreciated getting quick answers to questions like “can we move item X to here?” or “this came in a little larger than expected can we make it work?”. When it came to picking out house colors I was able to apply different colors to the different surfaces and really visualize how it worked in our space. One of the few enhancements I’d like to see is a better way to add images to surfaces. I used this to imagine different countertops and floor coverings on surfaces but found I had to crop the images before importing them since I could scale but not crop them within the application. The company has been actively updating the software with new features and improvements in usability.
Great program, horrible price
Bad Kitty
I have used many CAD program in the past, and was an early adopter of this software. But the price is absolutely ridiculous. Like other reviewers, I am also paying $50 a month (with a gun to my head) for ALL of Adobe’s graphic design software, and I resent it. We are sick and tired of subscriptions. This program is priced so far out of the range of the “ideal” target market that I don’t understand who is making these decisions. As an MBA, I’ll point the finger at either inexperienced MBAs or at least an MBA thought process. Your best pricing would take into consideration the needs of “makers” or folks with hobbyists with 3D printers...in fact, my cheapest 3D printer cost HALF of the annual subscription price of Shapr3D.I’m not saying the software isn’t worth it...it’s well-done. But you are missing out on a HUGE market of people willing to pay $9.99 a month (auto-draft, without the funny pricing games and forcing customers to pay annually to get that price). There needs to be a pricing option between the severely limited crappy free version and the $239/annual price. Quit ignoring the feedback! Take it seriously...you’ll have more people sign up, and you’ll probably make more!
Amazed!

Stumbled across this application and after reading the description it hinted at a similarity to a highly expensive parametric design software for pc known as Solid Works. That caught my interest because that was a software I fell in love with while in school for mechanical design. So that alone made me download and try the app. I tried the free version which is fully functional when it comes to design but limits certain features and number of designs that can be created. After a few versions of a design which I completed. I decided to bite the bullet and sign up for the monthly full version. So far I am glad I did you gain extra features to not only save your designed without limited number but also adjust colors to make designs look and feel more real to get a better idea of the vision of the product you are considering constructing. This app is intuitive but I have extensive Solid-works and AutoCad exposure and that helped tremendously with designing on this because this program is a slight mixture of both applications and tooling works similar to a blend of each of those two programs. Apple Pencil is a necessity for this because it acts as a mouse/courser and is very precise.
• New: Now you can use the Section Only mode within Section View to hide all model geometry and focus exclusively on the cross-section.
• Improved: Toggle 2D view (formerly Ortho View) to display the cross-section and visible background edges and silhouettes for better depth perception. When you rotate the camera, you can now use the Normal to Section option at the top to instantly realign the view without leaving the mode.
• Improved: The Wrap & Emboss tool now includes a gizmo for rotating your design and adjusting emboss depth directly in the modeling space, giving you visual control alongside the tool card parameters.
