I love using this thing. It has made me such a better drummer being able to listen to myself, mess with sounds, record and watch etc. The app on the other hand has been one of the most upsetting things about the Ead10. Up until recently it barely saw any updates. Out of the blue we received a new update that actually corrected and fixed a bunch of problems I initially had with the app. But since the update, the app has become almost unusable. I need to try over 20-30 times to get a successful connection to my phone let alone start the app without it instantly crashing. I understand this product is a few years old; but if your going to put your name on a project for the long haul, it’s best to invest in the project properly and fix the problems that it has.
Great idea but terrible execution

The EAD has the potential to be amazing. Sadly Yamaha didn’t really support the product with a good app when it launched. It has been riddled with various issues such as video being zoomed in for no reason when recording. I’d have to take sample videos and watch them back to see what the video would actually look like. Finally they put out a new update and the UI is kinda clunky. Stoked to see some updates but the app breaks all the time. The biggest killer is the video quality has gone to crap. I have a nice lighting rig with 4K IPhone. For whatever reason the video has a ton of noise in it which basically makes the app useless to me. Ive tested it before where I record a video with the app and then a video with just the phone. Crazy how low quality it is. (Yes I have the high quality setting on within the app). I’d rather record from the output of the brain and shoot video on my camera then sync the two in post than use the app. Real bummer because there’s so much potential here and doing the alternative is way more work. Please make the app usable again and support high quality 4K video recording. We NEED this if we’re going to use this product.
Great App But Can Be Improved

I personally think this is a fantastic app for learning and performing drum covers. I tell all my students to download it so they can slow down the songs they are working on and loop difficult sections, something that wasn’t available to me back when I was learning the basics. My main gripe about the app is that there doesn’t seem to be a way to delete songs out of the local music section after I’m done with them. I like to keep things clean and organized but with 30 old songs to shuffle through every time I’m putting in a new one it can get kinda frustrating. That also seems like it should be a simple fix so hopefully that will be in a update very soon. The second thing is when performing to a drumless backing track, the tempo seems to lock in on odd subdivision or just at a different rate all together. I would greatly appreciate the ability to customize the tempo to a song when that happens. I would say about 85% of the time the click lines up properly, which is great! But that 15% that it doesn’t line up really makes it difficult to get a good recording of a song or even just practice the song properly. And third of all is the 2 second jump back. Usually if I need to go back over a section I’ll hit that button 5-10 times to get back to the start of the section. 2 seconds doesn’t go back far enough to prepare for the part you are trying to hear again. Just some of my thoughts on how I think this app could be better, but like I said from the beginning, I think this is an amazing app and I recommend it all the time to friends and students.
Ead 10 great, rec n share app notsomuch

1. None of the songs I’ve downloaded on iTunes can be played through the app (this data cannot be selected). Downloaded Dropbox which is the only way I could play to a song and record my performance. Works flawlessly through the aux cord but only able to practice that way. 2. It’ll record fine a couple of times then outta nowhere it says please connect to a compatible device. Very frustrating, this is the main reason I purchased the $500 ead103. No way to manually adjust the click. It doesn’t get it right for every song so if it’s off tempo, the click is basically useless. The ead10 is a great practice tool and with a little help from the developers of this app, it could be great for recording. On the other hand, it’s a free app and you get what u pay for
Fixed some small problems.
