3.21.0 05/13/2025
Model Target tracking has been improved to be more robust with objects that have smooth, untextured surfaces such as cars or pressed sheet metal parts.
Mobile Capture is now generally available and no longer in beta! Vuforia Vantage users with Author, Manager, or Administrator roles will see a new Mobile Capture tab upon opening the app. Users no longer need to scan a QR code to activate the feature; instead, administrators can now enable or disable it for all users through a new product setting. By default, this setting is enabled (except for Vuforia Validate (GxP) customers). Other updates to Mobile Capture for this release include:
- The migration code which automatically moved mobile Captures that were taken in 3.17 to a new location (under the "Captures" folder) in versions 3.18 and 3.19 has been removed. If you have not used either the 3.18 or 3.19 version and upgraded directly from 3.17 to 3.20, the Capture will no longer be listed in the application; however, the folder will still be available via USB.
- Mobile Captures can now be uploaded from inside of Vuforia Vantage using the ellipses menu (...) next to the Capture name on the Mobile Capture tab.
- Users can now delete a step and related assets using the ellipses menu (...).
- The location marker UI has been improved to allow users to cancel the placement and/or delete an existing marker.
- An “X” button was added to the Capture name entry field to quickly clear the name.
The visualization of part markers has been improved. The interior of parts is no longer rendered, making visualization easier to understand (especially for complex parts). Additionally, if two part markers overlap in the camera view, they will be merged.
iOS 16.0 is now the minimum supported version.

• The Step Check guided training dome now automatically scales with the distance to the object.
• Video recording during Mobile Capture (Beta) now stops when device orientation changes during recording.
• Mobile Captures (Beta) are now automatically updated in the export folder of the device. Users no longer have to manually press the export button next to the Capture title field, and the export button has been removed.
3.18.0 10/15/2024
Lowered the bitrate for captures (beta) to reduce the file size of resulting files.
3.17.2 09/09/2024
• When a Step Check step has both Auto Proceed and Require Image Feedback enabled, the step will proceed automatically after a pass result is given and the required feedback image has been taken by the user.
• When using multiple part markers, the wayfinder is now only shown if all markers are occluded.
3.17.1 09/03/2024
- The open beta for Vuforia Capture on iOS is now available from within Vuforia Vantage. To access the beta feature, a QR code can be scanned that will be available in the Vuforia Capture for iOS Mobile (Beta) topic in the Vuforia Expert Capture Help Center. Once the QR is scanned, a feature toggle is activated that will display a new tab in the Vuforia Vantage main menu titled My Captures (BETA). From this new tab, you can capture images, videos, and location markers that can be imported into a procedure by user with the Author role.
- The wayfinder for occluded part markers now appears more often to point to the occluded parts.
- The wayfinder angle calculation has been improved to more accurately point towards its target.
- Feedback images taken manually are now cropped to contain only what was on the display when the photo was captured. Previously, due to different aspect ratios of the camera and screen, the images sometimes contained more area at the borders than was shown while capturing the image.
- The photo capture and review screens have been updated to simplify the UI by removing the Cancel button and replacing it with a Done button to exit the current screen.
- Bug fixes and minor improvements.
