I have been playing 500 for a year and it is very good. I love that is has so many custom settings that you can match the way you normally play the game with family/ friends. Or you can experiment with different options. This game has definitely made me a better player and has pushed me to be a more aggressive bidder, which is an important factor in winning. I win most of my games in the hardest setting, only because of my aggressive style. There are some quarks as sometimes your partner (the computer) will bid a hand that they don’t have the cards to win. If this was a strategy to stay in the game when the other teamIs about to go out that would be a smart move, but instead it is done at random points in the game, which is frustrating. I look at a 7 bid from my partner as a 6 bid knowing that I may need to carry the round. Overall this is a great game and you don’t need 4 people to play just yourself.
A Few Bad Plays

I love playing the game, so thank you for the work you have put into this app. I have a few issues with the computer (my partner) sometimes playing poorly. For instance, when it is clear only my partner and I have trump, my partner will lead trump, making impossible any hope of trumping each other’s losing cards. Often, we don’t make a bid we could have easily made if the computer would not lead trump once the opponents show out. Also, my partner will interrupt in the middle of my no trump bid and running a long suit by playing the joker unnecessarily. Invariably, his/her hand is not good, and we lose the rest of the tricks while I am holding a winning hand. It gets frustrating.

Just like when the family would get around the table. I love the multiple configuration options. And I can tell the game is undergoing constant improvement. More options, better AI play. Addictive. One request…our house rule was to win the team had to make their bid. I played a game today where my opponent failed to make a bid but still ended with over 500 pts and was awarded victory. Minor issue.

Good game, BUT…

I had reviewed previously and given 5 stars. This was based on how well the hand play had been programmed. The other players were really very smart and avoided things like overtrumping a partner. Other 500 games I’ve played were just that bad. Anyway, after playing a while, I’m tired of how often the other players bid NT, especially without the joker. Or Nullo. They go down often and take good hands away from me without any chance of winning. Frustrating. Hand play is great! But please work on bidding!
