Thronebreaker is a single-player campaign for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. Choice-driven, and cast with rich, multi-dimensional characters, it once again thrusts gamers into the monster-infested world of The Witcher.

Crafted by the developers responsible for some of the most iconic moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms - Lyria and Rivia. Facing an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath and sets out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.

Poorly Handled App Transition

I have no idea why CDPR isn’t honoring premium app purchases in this new freemium version (which is now the only version being supported with updates). Other apps have made a similar transition while honoring premium app purchases as unlocked in-app purchases. So it is not a technical limitation but one of effort. CDPR should make a commitment to its loyal customers who made an early show of support for the app. Otherwise, this comes of as a pure money-grab.

Yes, we can still access our purchase, but you have stated to others that you are no longer supporting updates to that app version. If something breaks, we are out of luck. This is just poor customer support.

Hello! In order to play already purchased Thronebreaker, you don't need to install this version. Instead, please go to your Appstore profile -> Purchases -> download the game from the list

Good and Bad

Two versions: original premium version and this freemium version. Issue: freemium version doesn’t honor premium version purchase. Either download the premium version from your Purchase History which will no longer receive updates, or purchase the unlock in the freemium version since this version will receive updates. No matter how you swing it, a Restore Purchases option would’ve been appreciated in the freemium version.

As for the game, it’s challenging and the story is very well written and presented. The interface is a bit cramped on the iPhone, so I’d recommend giving this a go on an iPad.

The original premium Thronebreaker release isn't supposed to be updated anymore - thus, by installing it instead of the newer version, you don't lose absolutely anything as any potential updates for the new Freemium version are only bugfixes specific to the update itself.

Invalidated my old purchases and saves

I already had this product on iOS, from back when it was called Thronebreaker. Now it’s been re-released as a separate entry in the App Store, with the old one taken down.

This means if I want to get version updates, or move to a new device, I have to buy this app again, and start from scratch with a new save game!

Unacceptable. Such low tactics from the developers in doing this.

Developer Response ,

Hello! If you bought the original Thronebreaker on iOS, you don't need to buy a new one, of course. Go to your account on AppStore -> Purchased -> select Thronebreaker from the list.
