I love my light system, but the app for the programming leaves a lot to be desired. It’s annoying if you have more than one controller because you have to duplicate the programming and each of them to synchronize them. Not to mention that every time you open the application, it defaults to day one, and you have to reprogram everything from that point forward. Additionally, the timers in the calendar are very awkward. I never really know if I’m saving it or if it will work. I am not a software or IT expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I am reasonably comfortable with software and technology but this is cumbersome and difficult to use. Also, the pre-loaded light options are just blah. I was watching a TikTok, and somebody was going through their light patterns because they had surprised their spouse, and they had architectural settings and all these awesome non-Christmas lighting designs. Yes, it offers you Valentine’s Day, but I can do red and pink lights alone.

The update adds some new features and fixes some issues. I wish the company would post some details on updates and how to use the new features This is what one user received from his installerTrimlight Dealer...The following areas were updated on the app and firmware:1. A "Snowflake" effect has been added to the same area where Lightning is located. It's a fun flashing of white lights on existing patterns. Speed and Sequence is not adjustable. 2. A "Firework" pattern option has been added in the list ofavailable movements in the custom palette screen. 3. A "Inside Out" pattern option has been added in the list of available movements in the custom palette screen. 4. Adjusting the time in the settings to allow users to confirm the time that is saved in the controller to ensure proper timer functionality. 5. Lightning feature bug fix and speed was adjustedbetween flashes.6. Library patterns are now alphabetized so the user can rename their default pattern to be the top in the list for the pattern they would like the lights to go to when first connecting each time.7. "weekDays" corrected on 2nd app update.8. A few word prompts have been added to help guide users to functionality.9. Bug fix to stop sending data to the lights when the lights are meant to be off.10. Previous app update went to the library page as the first opening of the app. This will be corrected on the next app update in the next few days.11. Twinkle was renamed to Twinkle Fade. A new pattern of Twinkle was added that is more true to the chosen colors in the sequence.

The basics are easy to use, creating patterns and animations. That’s where the positive ends.The scheduler doesn’t work right, selecting a single scene doesn’t work and instead the “combined effect” runs.The system doesn’t actually understand sunrise/sunset, it just grabs the time for the day the schedule was set. Reading the documentation, I don’t think the system even understands DST rules.Keyboards aren’t context aware, so every time you need to enter a number you have to switch the keyboard to the number page.Opening the app defaults the lights to the first scene, rather than the active scene.Update the name of the “Save” function from “Cover”(?!?) to “Save”. This is a silly thing to not have fixed immediately.Preset programs are cool, but would be more functional with the ability to create custom color palettes.System needs some basic UI improvements to be an appropriate match to a costly installation.Update now that we have entered DST: Shocking, controller nor app understand daylight savings rules. Sync time function also does not work. In order to get the controller time to sync to the device, you have to disable auto sync, tap the “now” button, and then re-enable auto sync. App seems to indicate it will update the time after pressing”now”, but it does not. Too many bugs.

•The app constantly freezes and resets itself to the default pattern every time it’s reopened.•Schedules are nearly impossible to save or edit — changes don’t take effect, or the app becomes completely unresponsive.•The interface is non-intuitive and confusing, making it hard to delete patterns or set up schedules without trial and error.•Lights keep running even when the app shows them as off, wasting energy and killing the vibe.•You can’t edit patterns without the changes instantly showing live on the house, which looks chaotic and unprofessional.•Connecting to the controller is a nightmare — it randomly drops connection even when Wi-Fi is strong.•Remote access is basically nonexistent; if you’re not standing next to your house, forget it.•Scheduling might work for a few days before randomly wiping or ignoring your settings.•The app feels ancient — clunky design, laggy performance, and no modern polish.•Customization is painfully limited; only a few saved patterns before it says “storage full.”•You can’t share or import patterns, so you’re stuck recreating everything manually.•Crashes, freezes, and disconnects are a daily occurrence.•No transparency about data privacy — the developer hasn’t even published its policies.•Bottom line: the lights themselves are fantastic, but this app is so bad it drags the whole system down to a 1-star experience.
