I use this all the time for practicing guitar, not just for steady pace for chord changes, picking, etc but just as an approximate measure count when just trying to get repetition. With both the guitar & horn it's also a great help to get objective feedback on my ability to speed up the pace with a passage as I get better. Another neat trick that I'll need another for (my wife's) I will start 2 metronomes at once to get a better feel for how, for example, eighth notes & triplets sound together - helpful when another orchestra section is playing something different. Using this app also increases my ability to use my ear for my surrounding while playing, to better play with others during rehearsals or performances. Finally, this has many options, & for an amateur like me it's perfect. My ability to listen and play to what I hear, i think essential for anyone who wants to play with others, absolutely improves with this.
Big Gig
Fat Daddy Productions
Some years ago, I had a very important gig with a very famous person who, on top of being a legend and a brilliant musician was a stickler for songs, starting a little bit slower live knowing that we have an inclination to speed up once were off the click. I initially downloaded this app to have a quick handy reference live when counting off from behind the kit and used it well as to practice through the set as well. I found it easy and intuitive as a basic metronome. Then I discovered I could practice various snare rudiments and guitar mandolin exercises and have them speed up as measures passed. I just fell in love with this app. There are other features that I have not used but they are here when needed. If I’m not mistaken, I have been using it since 2015 and I honestly never use anything else at this point.Eric NYC
Great App But Has Its Issues
]]Staple[[OldSkoolProphets]]
Been using this app for a few months a the click track for our worship team. It’s been great, then suddenly the volume changes without notice at different tempos. I.E. today we played a song at 105 and quarter note beats. The volume was maxed on the iPad, but was barely audible through our in ear monitors. When we switched to the second track, at 90bpm, and 1/8 notes, volume nearly doubled in the ears causing everyone to groan and pull their ears out immediately. Tried programming at half tempo and 1/8 notes, no luck. Tried deleting and recreating the song, no dice. Tried a completely different device, same issue. Didn’t matter. It’s quite annoying. We really need to get this fixed. It seems to be a program or coding error, and it would be nice to get it figured out. It seems like anything below 65 bpm and anything around 105bpm are at about 2/3 volume. Having anyone from the developer reach out to fix this would be awesome.
One bug, two feature requests
tyeNewton
Outstanding. Does everything I can think to want from a metronome app! Except...I just wish it would sync over iCloud. Syncing both settings and set lists across my iPhone and iPad would be the ultimate solution. No sense in setting my preferences and set lists twice for every edit I make. (I notice the app has its own switch under iCloud Drive in Settings, but I guess that just means it backs up the device data? It’s certainly not syncing anything to the iPad, which also has the switch on.)The one bug is that the count-down timer (tracker?) will not set until I hit the "reset" arrow (which uses the "Reply" icon for a Mail app). I’m not certain how to reproduce the issue, but to describe it further… - When I originally tried the count-down timer it seemed to work perfectly, - but after setting it to zero and later setting it back to 5 minutes, it stayed at zero. - I was very confused by this for a while. Quitting and restarting the app did not resolve it. - I eventually discovered by accident that if I set it to 5 minutes then hit the "reset" arrow, it would correct to 5 minutes.- My expectation for its behavior would be for it to set to 5 minutes the instant I tell it to, or when I close the timer pop-up menu. Second feature request: While we’re at fixing this bug, why not also add a simple timer on/off toggle. That way we can leave the timer set to 5 minutes, but turn it off temporarily, then flip it back on with it still remembering our 5 minute preference. This would make it easier for me to use the app for practice sessions. Hope this helps! Cheers
Tempo now displays natively on iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
