I now live out-of-state, but still have many family members and friends living in Southern California. Up until June 1st of this year (2020), my TV provider (DirecTV) provided me with the Los Angeles (and NYC) four main network channels. This year, Congress decided not to renew the regulation that allowed telecoms to provide that service. So the channels went away. Now the only way I can stay up-to-date with So Cal news and weather, a station I have watched for over forty years!, is through this app. It’s always about money, folks. Some corporations —of some people represented by powerful lobbyists— were not financially benefitting from allowing telecoms to provide out-of-state channels so We the People lost out. For many people in rural areas, it was the ONLY access they had to the four main network channels—they are not able to pull in any local channels. But who cares about them? Not our money-grubbing Congress. Anyway, I am grateful that NBC LA provides this app to us free over the internet. It is great as a stand alone news source (written news or prerecorded videos) as well as providing several hours daily of their live news broadcast. NBC’s coverage and reporting is the best and this app is, too. Thank you.
News The Way I Want It

NBC4 So Calls Mobile News app has created the news tool of convenience. I can’t tell you when I last sat down in the family room to watch the news as a newscast was happening. I am more likely to have been on the go, at work or in another part of the house. Convenience with a capital C. Alerts that remind me of an upcoming story or broadcast. A traffic story or potentially dangerous pursuit are just some of the features I rely on. Lastly, it’s dependable. It’s especially valuable while traveling. Good job and thank you.
Up to the minute news!

For the latest breaking news in So Cal, our state and even national news, this app provides timely alerts and articles. I recommend using your phone alerts to notify you as some news (such as fires, car chases, traffic jams, flooding, earthquakes) can help you prepare or avoid those problem areas. Overall, this app has provided excellent, concise coverage for the highlights of the day.

BEST. APP. EVER. This is a must have app if you love watching SoCal car chases. You get notified the moment the chopper is on scene. Best coverage of car chases too. My kids can’t get enough of it. The reporters are always respectful and will pull back the camera view if things get too violent. I just wish that they’d leave footage of the car chase on the app so that those of us who missed a late night chase could watch it the next day. Thanks
Video Shorts: we’ve added a new section to the home screen where you can watch short, phone-friendly news videos from our local journalists.
