Since the last app update, I have entered two flights without crashing my iPad. Fingers crossed problem is resolved.Follow up. Very pleased, have logged several days worth of flights and synced with no issues. App now back on my recommend list.
Flexible enough for students through ATPs

I made the switch from paper to Safelog a few years ago as a flight instructor, and even now as an airline pilot I’m happy to say it has served me perfectly through both phases of my career so far. There’s a bit of a learning curve to get it set up just right to your taste, but once you configure the seemingly endless options, this logbook’s power is really evident. As an instructor I was able to keep track of student names, special events/lesson tasks, in addition to any flight condition/aircraft configuration I could think of. The software even has a database of aircraft operators to display flight school & company logos in each line entry if you choose (a really beautiful touch).When I interviewed at my airline, I went armed with an extremely neat binder containing the printed safelog report that I was able to customize and generate directly from the web app (both a totaled cover sheet and the logbook itself). No messy writing, no extraneous info, and it took all of 30 second to compute each total I needed. I still use safelog every day I work and it’s just as home in a jet airline cockpit as it was in a 4-seat bugsmasher. I personally just throw in my flight number, the UTC block times straight from our ACARS screen, the approach I flew, handling role (PM/PF), plus all the other standard info (stuff like night time and landings are auto-filled) and I’m done in about 15 seconds.Overall just a great product by a solid company with great support. You can tell Dauntless really cares about their work and the latest UI update continues to improve the experience. Highly recommended, even over the more well-known competitors.
“Features” do not work

Ten years ago it was a great app, but the developer has let it deteriorate into a complete mess of “features” that no longer function. There are settings to turn off the Google Maps/Earth buttons but these do not work in the app or on the Mac Desktop version. The Desktop version for printing has a Legacy Print that crashes the program. The “sync on start” and “sync on close” features do nothing for the app on either platform. The developer has created multiple types of “currency” and “dashboard” screens and none of them work offline. I’m so disappointed that I purchased a long term subscription. Waste of money at this point. Developer takes your money and then never modernizes the app.
Has worked pretty much flawlessly over the last four years

I have used this as my primary logbook since 2018 when I started my RW to FW transition. Has worked very well on my iPhone, company iPads, and my computer, and the cloud sync has been stellar. Good print out capabilities (ZERO issues with the basic Safelog format at my 121 legacy interviews-yes, I got the job) and zero data lost over the last 4 years. I will continue to track those hours via Safelog until I am finally like “why am I still doing this”?
